Today I’m excited to share a hidden gem tucked away in Komori, Nishihara Village, Aso District —
Hatake no Kitchen ORTO (畑のキッチン オルト) ⭐︎

You’ll spot the restaurant on the right-hand side as you head from central Kumamoto City toward Mt. Tawarayama 😊
Locals may already recognize this charming building!
I’d been wanting to visit for ages, but timing never worked out — so I was beyond excited the day finally came 😆

Here’s the best part — ORTO has its very own vegetable garden 😁
That’s right! At ORTO, you can enjoy homegrown, freshly harvested vegetables 🤩
It’s a wonderfully safe and wholesome choice for families with children ☺️

Out front, you’ll find an adorable little tap and shower 🚿
And yes, the water actually works! 😄

The menu is posted right outside the entrance 😀

Sweet potatoes are sold by weight at ¥50 per 100g 🍠

Outside the restroom, there are even hand towels waiting for you 🥰

Recommended Menu

This time, I went with the Seasonal Vegetable Pasta — ¥1,900 😄

First up, the appetizer plate.

Nine bite-sized appetizers, each one bringing out the natural flavor of its star ingredient — every single one was delicious!
In front, you can see the sweet potato soup 🍠

Next, the main attraction — fresh handmade pasta 🍝

On this day, it was an oil-based pasta 😄
I’d asked them to reduce the portion size, so the regular serving is even more generous 😆

The flat noodles soaked up the oil beautifully — absolutely delicious!
As a fresh pasta lover, I was so glad I ordered it 🥰

To finish, dessert and coffee were served 😄
The apple compote in front was especially delightful 😍

My friend ordered the hamburger steak, which came with plenty of vegetables and a generous topping of grated daikon radish — she said it was wonderfully tasty 🥰

I’m so glad I finally made it to ORTO 🥰
Every dish felt gentle and nourishing for the body.
If you’re visiting Kumamoto, this place is absolutely worth a stop! ☺️
