Welcome to Masupan

Hello there!
This is Asukarando, your Sarukuma writer.

Today I’m excited to introduce you to a hidden gem located in Terada, Tamana City, Kumamoto Prefecture
“Masupan” bakery.

This adorable cottage-style bakery sits right along Route 208.

The parking lot is enormous, shared with the surrounding area, and located right next door to Masupan (^-^)

The interior of Masupan is just as charming as the outside! (^-^)/

An impressive lineup of artisan hard-crust breads (^з^)-☆

Walnut Chocolate Bread — 210 yen

Fresh out of the oven during my visit:

An-Cheese Bread — 210 yen

Everyone’s favorite: Melon Pan — 140 yen

The shop displays each bread’s baking schedule, so you can plan your visit to catch your favorites fresh from the oven! ☆

There’s a children’s picture book corner—a wonderful detail for traveling families. Parents can browse breads at their own pace while the kids stay entertained! \(^o^)/

Beyond bread, there are also charming handcrafted goods on display.
They make perfect little souvenirs or gifts to take home! (^-^)

What I Recommend Trying

Here’s what I picked up on my visit ☆

An-Cheese Bread — 210 yen
I was surprised by how thin and flat it was—not at all what I had imagined!

Hot from the oven, this bread is crispy on the outside, with a chewy walnut-studded interior, generously filled with cream cheese and traditional sweet red bean paste (anko) ☆

Until I tasted this bread, I was 100% convinced that anko + butter was the world’s greatest combination…

But the rich creaminess and slight saltiness of the cream cheese paired with subtly-sweet red bean paste? Pure magic!!!!!!!!

And look at how thin the bread is!
Plus those occasional walnut crunches!

Every detail of this An-Cheese is perfectly thought out \(^o^)/

From the first bite to the last,
the deliciousness just
keeps coming!

And I couldn’t stop the urge to buy another one!
Dangerously addictive…(–;)

I’m completely hooked! (⌒0⌒)/~~

And one more! The #1 best-seller:
Tamakoro — 140 yen
I had to try it too! (^з^)-☆

Almost as if it had been waiting just for me… (okay, probably not!)
I grabbed the very last one!

Just look at this!
That perfect shape!
And what an adorable name!

Soft, fluffy bread filled with gentle homemade custard cream (^з^)-☆

A guaranteed crowd-pleaser for both kids and adults! (^-^)/

There are still so many breads I want to try!
One visit simply isn’t enough—Masupan is the kind of bakery you’ll want to come back to again and again (^-^)

Travelers in Kumamoto, do yourself a favor and experience this delicious surprise for yourself!
