Today we’re introducing
“KOKOPELLI,”
a delightful cafe tucked away in Matsuo-machi,
Nishi Ward, Kumamoto City.

You’ll wind up a mountain road, then squeeze through
a narrow lane that makes you think,
“Wait, are we really going this way?”
But at the end of that journey waits a wonderfully
charming old-house-style cafe.

Inside, antique items fill every corner of the cafe,
many of them available for purchase.
There’s a cozy kids’ space tucked into the attic,
and a lovely terrace area in the garden,
creating a wonderfully relaxing atmosphere.
It’s not just a perfect spot for a driving date —
with tatami seating available, families with little ones
can also feel right at home!

This time, we went with a tart
and a raspberry iced tea.

Savoring seasonal flavors in such a peaceful,
unhurried space felt like a true luxury —
a little escape from the everyday.

Getting There

Head along Prefectural Route 101 toward Tamana.

Turn left at the three-way junction.
Follow the road for a while, then

turn right at the marked point.
The road becomes very steep and narrow — drive carefully!

There’s parking nearby for about 3 cars.
