It’s been freezing cold lately, and I was thinking about making hot pot tonight—
but I just can’t decide what kind!

Today I’m introducing a wonderful spot located in
Ninomaru, Chuo-ku, Kumamoto City, Kumamoto Prefecture:
“Itsukiya Honpo Kumamoto Castle Store.”

For parking, please use the Kumamoto Castle Josaien coin parking lot nearby.

For a moment, I thought the shop was actually called “Yama Uni Tofu,”
but it turns out Yama Uni Tofu is their signature menu item! (*´Д｀)

The shop had rows and rows of Yama Uni Tofu on display.
There was simply no way I wasn’t buying some!

Yama Uni Tofu is made using
100% Fukuyutaka soybeans grown in Kyushu,
slowly marinated in a special blend of moromi miso
that has been passed down for 800 years—a truly original product.

Here are the varieties available in the shop:
Yama Uni Tofu Original — 100g, 648 yen
Yama Uni Tofu Yuzu Flavor — 100g, 648 yen
Yama Uni Tofu Smoked — 100g, 648 yen
Tofu Cheese — 100g, 648 yen
And a new product:
Yama Uni Tofu Spicy Mentaiko — 100g, 972 yen ♪

I got to sample them all,
and each one was so delicious—it was hard to choose! (*´Д｀)

Another shop recommendation:
Karifuwa (Crispy-Fluffy) Half Sheet — 650 yen each
A handmade fried tofu (aburaage) with such a tempting name…

“Crispy-fluffy”… I want to try it so badly! lol

They also offer soft serve ice cream:
Authentic Black Sesame — 360 yen
Tofu Milk — 360 yen
It’s getting chilly, but I still want one!
Cold weather can’t stop me—I have to try it!

perfect as a snack with drinks too.
