Introducing Minamiaso Blueberry Farm Kirari

Hello everyone! It’s Asukarando from Sarukuma.

Today I’m excited to introduce a hidden gem nestled in the gorgeous Minamiaso countryside —
Minamiaso Blueberry Farm Kirari!

July and August bring all kinds of delicious seasonal fruits in Japan, and this time we headed out for some blueberry picking — let me show you how it went! (*^.^*)

The entrance to Minamiaso Blueberry Farm Kirari appears just up this little slope — head on up and you’ll see it!

The parking lot is right at the front — super convenient!

And here’s the reception desk where you check in.

Here’s the pricing! (*^.^*)

Adults (junior high school and up): 1,000 yen

Children (under 5 free): 500 yen

※ All-you-can-eat + take-home pack included

Additional take-home packs:

Large pack: 800 yen (500g)

Small pack: 500 yen (300g)

And the best part — there’s no time limit on your picking session!

There’s also a covered rest area that gives you nice shade — a perfect spot to sit down and slowly savor the blueberries you’ve just picked.

A quick heads-up: due to a recent typhoon, the temporary toilets weren’t available on the day we visited.
There’s a convenience store nearby (a short drive away), but it’s a good idea to use the bathroom before heading to the farm.
Depending on weather and timing, if you’re worried I’d recommend giving them a call ahead of your visit to confirm.

☆ Minamiaso Blueberry Farm Kirari — Tips for a Great Picking Experience ☆

① To beat the summer heat, don’t forget your hat and plenty of water!

② Blueberries don’t ripen after picking, so look for the deep, dark berries — those are the sweetest! (^-^)v

③ Store your blueberries in the fridge or freezer, and only rinse them right before eating!

④ Blueberries are a true superfood! The anthocyanins are famously good for your eyes, and they also have powerful antioxidants that help fight aging and lifestyle-related diseases. Time to load up on them! (*^.^*)

Why We Recommend Minamiaso Blueberry Farm Kirari

From the moment you step onto the property at Kirari, you’re surrounded by blueberry bushes as far as the eye can see!

Rows and rows of blueberry trees stretch out in every direction! (^-^)v

The kids took one look at the bunches of berries hanging in clusters and shouted, “They look just like grapes!” (^-^)v

Alright!
Let the blueberry picking begin!

The bushes are nice and low, so even small children can pick easily without any help — perfect for families with young kids! (*^.^*)

Once we taught the kids to look for the big, dark berries, they happily searched within their reach and picked out the ripe ones like little pros! (^-^)v

The berries are pesticide-free, so you can pop them straight into your mouth right off the bush! (^-^)v
They’re hardly tart at all — wonderfully sweet and bursting with flavor! (*^o^)/\(^-^*)

With a take-home pack in one hand and the all-you-can-eat option going strong, you’re constantly torn — “do I eat this one, or save it for the pack?!” Once you start, it’s impossible to stop! (((^^;)

In no time, we’d picked this much! (*^o^)/\(^-^*)

Fun for grown-ups and easy for little ones too — blueberry picking here is a wonderful way to make unforgettable summer memories in Aso! (^-^)v
