About the Bakery

Hello there!
My weight has been steadily climbing, so I really should hit the gym—
but I’m absolutely certain I’d never stick with it.
This is Binako, your Sarukuma writer!

Today I’m introducing a charming bakery located in
Suya, Koshi City, Kumamoto Prefecture:
“Boulangerie Toi”.

What an adorable wood-themed shop! ♥

Parking is available right in front of the shop, with about 2 spaces.

Just be careful—the parking next door belongs to a different shop!

Inside, the shelves are packed with bread

Gopan (rice-flour bread)
Crispy-Edge Pork & Salt Chinese-Style Bun (160 yen)
Gopan with Hijiki Seaweed (160 yen)
Salt Bread with Basil Sauce (190 yen)

Affordable prices make these breads easy to grab and try.
Oh, and “gopan” means bread made with rice flour!

Seasonal Apple Pie — 330 yen
Available only during this season—don’t miss out! ♥
This is exactly why my autumn appetite is unstoppable…

Rye Bread — 160 yen

Rye bread is surprisingly rare in Japanese bakeries.
It’s a personal favorite of mine, so I grabbed one immediately!

There’s also a great selection of sweet pastries lined up—they all look amazing.

Marron (Chestnut) Brioche — 180 yen
Bakery-Style Basque Cheesecake — 190 yen and more.

So many tempting choices to please every palate! ♥

Recommended Menu

This time, I picked up:
Rye Bread — 160 yen
Choco Cornet — 140 yen

Just look at this overflowing chocolate cornet!
The chocolate isn’t overly sweet, and the bread itself is wonderfully fluffy—
a true delight for anyone with a sweet tooth.

And this rye bread looks SO good—what should I do?

Raisins, figs, and walnuts
create a wonderful mix of textures, while the rich rye flavor
shines through—exactly the bread I’d been craving!
I could honestly eat several at once.

The shop staff were warm and welcoming, too!
Definitely give this lovely bakery a visit when you’re in Kumamoto!
