About the Café

Hello there!
This is Rikotama, writing for Sarukuma!

Today I’m excited to introduce a lovely little spot located in Koto, Higashi-ku, Kumamoto City:
Ellery Coffee Shop!

I happened to spot it while out for a family walk — “Wait, what an adorable building!”

As we got closer, we discovered a truly stylish café with the dreamiest exterior (≧▽≦)
Snowflakes had just started falling, and the white flecks against the deep green walls looked absolutely magical ☆

Welcome to Ellery Coffee Shop.
Open daily from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM
Closed on Wednesdays!

There are three parking spaces right next to the shop — perfect if you’re driving!

Step inside and you’re greeted by a cozy, intimate space with a chic, calming atmosphere ♬
A beautiful collection of coffee cups lines the area in front of the counter seats — already a treat for the eyes.

Toward the back, you’ll find two small tables, each seating two people — perfect for a quiet date or a chat with a friend!

You’ll also notice rows and rows of books lining the shelves!

The owner is a big mystery-novel fan, so there’s a strong selection of those titles (*^▽^*)
My husband and I both love a good mystery, so we couldn’t help but browse the collection with curiosity!

This time we ordered today’s chiffon cake special ♡

A duo plate featuring wild strawberry & matcha chiffon cakes!
The vibrant colors of the cakes, the lovely plate, and the unique fork made me pause just to take in the presentation (*´▽`*)

My son fell completely in love with the wild strawberry chiffon and gobbled it up ♪
I managed to sneak a bite — and wow, that sweet-tart strawberry flavor bursts in your mouth!!!

The matcha had a lovely lingering bitterness at the finish — incredibly delicious 😋
