📌 What You’ll Learn in This Article
A SaruKuma writer visits Offtoko Cafe in Ozu Town, Kumamoto and shares everything you need to know — family-friendly tips, access info, and opening hours.

Hello travelers!
It’s been quite a while since my last post…
【SaruKuma】 writer Cho-san here!

Today I’m introducing a charming little spot located in Ozu Town, Kikuchi District, Kumamoto Prefecture
【Offtoko Cafe】.

The name “Offtoko” comes from the Japanese phrase meaning “a place to switch off” — making Offtoko Cafe a perfect retreat from busy daily life.
What an adorable name!
My heart literally went kyun! ♡

With its cheerful yellow bench and matching yellow bicycle out front,
the cafe is already picture-perfect before you even step inside.

When I visited, two young women were already perched on the bench snapping photos. ♡
It’s clearly become a popular Instagram spot in town! ⭐︎

And the interior doesn’t disappoint either — pure cuteness throughout!

The space radiates a warm, welcoming atmosphere.

Wood-grain tables and chairs paired with charming dried flower arrangements create a wonderfully stylish vibe!

Allow me to share a tiny bit of my (very surface-level!) dried flower knowledge from a brief obsession I once had… lol
Those round green leaves are called “Eucalyptus Populus”!
A dried flower expert once told me, “They’re perfect for beginners!”
so naturally, eucalyptus became my very first dried flower project!

Anyway, back to the cafe!
There’s even a children’s chair tucked away…
stylishly arranged just for little ones! ♡

The cafe offers both dine-in and takeout, with many customers opting for the takeout option.
Inside, you’ll spot a handy photo menu board.
If you’re getting takeout, don’t forget to grab a snapshot on that iconic yellow bench outside! ♪

Recommended Menu Items

Since I visited during cafe hours I didn’t get to try lunch this time, but the lunch menu looks just as stylish and adorable as everything else!
The menu rotates monthly.
Here’s the September lineup!
(Sorry for the late posting…! 😅)
Homemade Hamburger Steak — ¥1,300 + tax
Pasta of the Month — ¥1,200 + tax
“Fried Eggplant & Baked Cheese with Homemade Meat Sauce Pasta”
Quiche of the Month — ¥1,000 + tax
“Lotus Root, Sweet Potato & Honey Mustard Chicken Quiche”
Every main dish comes with a lunch set (in September: salad, vichyssoise, and a drink)!
And here’s the best part — lunch is served from 11:00 to 17:00!
It’s so refreshing to find a place that accommodates late lunchers!
Cafe time runs from 14:00 to 17:00, so if you’re just stopping in for a drink, aim for after 2:00 PM! ♪
And there’s more…
They even have a Kids’ Plate! ♡
For just ¥500 + tax, kids get fried chicken, fries, rice, salad, and a drink — what a steal!
It’s packed with all the favorites kids love! ☆
The drink menu is wonderfully extensive too! ♪
The dessert sets look absolutely tempting!

This time, however, I came specifically craving a frappe,
so I focused my attention on those — but oh boy, the variety was way more than I expected! ♡
So many options! ♡♡♡
The No. 1 bestseller is the Pistachio Frappe (¥600 + tax).
Pistachio is such a beloved flavor among women, isn’t it? ♡
(I’ll admit it — I’m definitely one of those pistachio fans too!)

This time, I was drawn to a new menu item and went with the
Mango Yogurt Frappe (¥550 + tax)!
Topped with viola flowers ♡
Edible flowers are simply the best!
So Instagrammable!
So adorable!
And most importantly — absolutely delicious!

My peach-loving friend ordered the
Peach & Yogurt Frappe (¥550 + tax)!
She gave it a flawless review — utterly delicious! ♡

The afternoon I visited was warm and sunny, so the yogurt’s refreshing tang and gentle sweetness made it the perfect day to gulp down a frappe! ♪

True to its name, my visit to Offtoko Cafe was a true “switch off” moment of pure relaxation.

I’m already plotting my return visit — this time for lunch! 😊
