Hello, fellow travelers!
This is Binako, writer for Sarukuma!

Today I’m excited to introduce you to
Muro, Ozu Town, Kikuchi District, Kumamoto‘s very own
“Cafe Land”.

This charming bubble tea shop sits right in front of Higo-Ozu Station — you literally can’t miss it as you step off the train.

Bubble tea (or tapioca, as it’s called here in Japan) has been having a major moment globally…
But here’s the thing: Cafe Land has been serving up authentic tapioca drinks for
over 10 years — making them true bubble tea veterans long before the worldwide craze!

Here’s a look at the menu:

《Soft Drinks》
S size: 350 yen
M size: 450 yen

《Shakes》
S size: 450 yen
M size: 550 yen

《Frozen Drinks》
S size: 400 yen
M size: 500 yen

《HOT Soft Drinks》
S size: 350 yen
M size: 450 yen

Rich Caramel Latte
Rich Cafe Mocha
650 yen

The variety here is honestly incredible!
Have you ever seen a bubble tea shop with this many options? I haven’t!

And the prices? Surprisingly affordable.
No wonder it’s such a hit with local students (*´Д`)

They also have:

Crepes: 400 yen
(with soft serve ice cream: 500 yen)

Soft Serve Sundae: 300 yen
as well ♪

One handy detail — they display actual size samples for both S and M cups,
so ordering is super easy even if you don’t speak Japanese (*´Д`)

Pro tip for takeaway: just let the staff know in advance,
and they’ll hand it to you without inserting the straw — perfect for travelers on the go (^^♪

On top of all that,
you can choose extra toppings,
and there are even savory crepes too,
so you’ll definitely have a fun time deciding what to order! (lol)

You can also dine in at the shop,
though I forgot to snap a photo of the interior this time around —
so if you’re planning to eat in, just ask the friendly staff (#^.^#)

Our Recommended Pick

This time, I went for the
Calpis-flavored Soft Drink
S size: 350 yen
— a uniquely Japanese yogurt-style soda that’s a must-try!

Just look at this —
the sheer amount of tapioca pearls in this cup.
It’s absolutely loaded.

And no, I didn’t pay for any extra toppings.

That’s some seriously generous service right there!

My little one was happily munching away,
“Mochi-mochi~~♪” (that’s Japanese for “chewy and bouncy!”)
and polished off most of it in no time.

By the end, we even peeled back the seal on top to slurp every last pearl directly from the cup.
I used to come here often back in the day,
so this was a nostalgic return visit for me.

The taste is just as deliciously perfect as I remembered.
It really took me right back ( *´艸`)

As you’d expect from a long-established shop,
this is the place to experience authentic, traditional bubble tea —
so definitely add Cafe Land to your Kumamoto travel itinerary!
