Hello, travelers! This is Gachako, writer for SaruKuma.

Today I’m excited to introduce a wonderful spot located in Magarino, Matsubase-machi, Uki City
— Genki Yakiniku OH! Smile.

Situated right along a major street in Matsubase-machi, this restaurant is incredibly easy to find.

The star of the show here is delicious Kuroge Wagyu (Japanese Black Beef).

This place has been around since my school days — I have fond memories of celebrating club activities here.
It’s been beloved by locals for so long that it really speaks for itself, but
please let me share it with you anyway!

There’s a spacious parking lot.
A bar and karaoke spot are conveniently located right next door too.

You take off your shoes at the entrance — a traditional Japanese touch.

The interior is beautifully clean and welcoming.
Beyond the table seating, there are plenty of private tatami (Japanese-style) rooms in the back — perfect for families or groups who want privacy.
Children’s tableware and high chairs are available too.
I seem to remember there was a kids’ room as well…

It was temporarily closed during our visit due to the pandemic. So unfortunate!

Here’s the menu.

You’ll find their recommended assorted platters and
à la carte Kuroge Wagyu beef cuts,
Kyushu-raised pork and chicken, plus sausages and grilled vegetables — don’t forget those!
Seafood, salads, rice, and other à la carte options round out the menu.
And yes — there’s a Kids’ Udon on offer!
Refreshing cold desserts are also available to cleanse your palate after the meal.

Recommended Menu Items at Genki Yakiniku OH! Smile

We ordered the Kuroge Wagyu 7-Cut Assortment.
If you order this, you can’t go wrong — it’s a foolproof choice.
Tokujo Loin (premium loin), Tokujo Karubi (premium short rib), Jo Loin (top loin), Jo Karubi (top short rib), Karubi (short rib), Healthy Karubi, and Yaki-shabu or Yaki-suki — you get to sample a little of each.

It just melts in your mouth! As you’d expect, it’s absolutely delicious.
“Delicious” doesn’t even do it justice — I’m running out of words!

We also ordered the foil-grilled scallops, served with butter inside.
These were absolutely delightful too.
The garden salad — way more than you’d expect for 560 yen!
Whoops! We ordered two and there was so much.
You get to choose from three different dressings.
Gotta balance out all that meat with some greens, right?
The rice set comes with soup and kimchi included.
There’s also an all-you-can-drink soft drink bar.
If you plan to drink two glasses or more, this is the better deal.

in the end we agreed — why not just go for this again?
We savored the unique flavors of each cut once more♪
