A Sarukuma writer visits “kichijitsu Bakery” (locally known as “Kichi-Pan”) in Yoshimachi, Minami Ward, Kumamoto City. Prices start from 360 yen. We also cover family-friendly tips, access, and opening hours.

Hello there, fellow travelers!
I’m Yuzu, a writer for Sarukuma.

Today, I’d like to introduce you to
kichijitsu Bakery, affectionately known as “Kichi-Pan” by the locals,
located in Yoshimachi, Minami Ward, Kumamoto City.

To get there, head down the old Hamasen road toward Kashima,
turn left at the sign for Tamukaeminami Elementary School,
and you’ll find Kichi-Pan tucked away in a quiet residential neighborhood.

The parking area is covered, so you won’t get wet even on rainy days!

And there’s plenty of room for parking ๐Ÿš—

Now, let’s head inside!
GO! GO!!

At the entrance, you’ll see some helpful notes and gentle requests from the shop,
so be sure to read them before stepping in.

Also, here’s a tip: if you bring the bakery’s original eco bag for your shopping,
you’ll get a 10 yen discount on your purchase!

Once inside, you’ll spot a handmade goods corner.
Every item is so lovely!
It looks like you can even place custom orders!

You’ll also notice some beautiful photos displayed alongside notes for customers.
I can’t wait to go in!
So excited! โ™ช

To the left of the entrance, there’s an eat-in space,
though currently it’s not available for dining in.
Instead, this table is used for bagging up your purchases.
There’s even a tatami seating corner โ€” perfect for families with little ones!
Menu Highlights

Rows of adorable, freshly baked breads line the shelves.
Everything looks absolutely delicious!

And look โ€” I even spotted a discount section!
Doesn’t spotting bargain breads always lift your spirits?

Hearty, generously-filled sandwiches

On this visit, I picked up these three lovely treats โ˜†
Square Loaf Bread (1 loaf) โ€” 360 yen
Banana & Half-Chocolate Chip โ€” 250 yen
Strawberry Jam & Yogurt Whip โ€” 230 yen

Let’s start with the square loaf bread.
I had a whole freshly baked loaf sliced for me right at the shop.

Since it was hot out of the oven,
they put it in a paper bag along with a separate storage bag,
and kindly advised me, “Be sure to transfer it into the storage bag once it cools down a bit!”

Even my family members who normally don’t care for bread crusts
absolutely loved it โ€” the loaf disappeared in no time!

I tried to slice it stylishly for a photo,
but as a first-timer, my picture turned out far from Instagram-worthy.
Still, one thing is for sure โ€” it was truly delicious!!

Next up, the Strawberry Jam & Yogurt Whip.
The sweetness of the jam paired beautifully with the gentle tartness of the yogurt cream โ€”
an irresistible balance that I gobbled up in seconds.

Paired with a cup of coffee, it was
absolutely heavenly!

Last but not least, the Banana & Half-Chocolate Chip.

I’m a huge banana lover, so I savored every bite.
Banana, chocolate, and cream truly are a golden trio!!!

If you’re ever in Kumamoto, be sure to give Kichi-Pan a try!
