Welcome to Kinacoya

Hello, fellow travelers!
I’m Saa-mama, a writer for Sarukuma.

Today I’m excited to introduce you to
“Kinacoya”, a delightful sweets shop located in
Shinyashiki, Chuo-ku, Kumamoto City.

You’ll find 2 parking spots on the left side of the building.

If those spots are full,
there are paid parking lots nearby for your convenience.

Step inside and you’ll be greeted by a beautiful array of traditional Japanese and Western-style sweets.
Next to the register, you’ll spot Mitarashi Kinako Dango (130 yen),
Mitarashi Dango (130 yen), and Kinako Fried An-Pan (100 yen)
—all wonderfully tempting! ♪

Silky Premium Pudding (270 yen),
Rich Mitarashi Pudding (300 yen),
Deep-Roasted Kinako Pudding (300 yen),
Kuromitsu (Brown Sugar Syrup) Warabimochi (430 yen),
Matcha Warabimochi (490 yen),
Hojicha Warabimochi (470 yen),
and the signature Kinacoya Roll Cake (890 yen) featuring fragrant kinako and warabimochi.
It’s a treasure trove of Japanese and Western sweets—perfect for souvenirs or an afternoon snack with the kids! (*^^*)

You can also pick up a Handmade Warabimochi Kit (470 yen),
so you can enjoy making traditional Japanese sweets at home—a fun activity to share with kids! ♫

There’s a wonderful selection of gift sets too,

making this a fantastic spot to grab unique Japanese sweets souvenirs! ♫

There’s also a cozy eat-in space
with three 2-person tables and two 4-person tables!

Kinacoya’s Must-Try Menu

Shirokuma Shaved Ice & Kinako Bear Shaved Ice (730 yen each),

Pick-Your-Own 3-Item Set (680 yen),

Master’s Warabimochi Set (1,000 yen),

Chilled Mitarashi Wasanbon Pudding Zenzai with Drink Set (780 yen),

Cold Warabimochi Drink, Hot Warabimochi Drink,

Warabimochi Pie, Warabimochi Soft-Serve Ice Cream Float,

and the refreshing Yuzu Warabimochi with Domestic Yuzu Lemonade Soda set—the drink menu is just as exciting as the sweets! ♬

This time, I tried the Kinako Bear Shaved Ice (730 yen).
Just look at those adorable big round eyes—too cute to eat!!

The bear’s eyes are made of chocolate,
the ice cream forming the mouth is kinako (roasted soybean flour) ice cream,
and hidden underneath are warabimochi (bracken-starch jelly), kinako cream, and azuki red beans! ♪

It comes with house-made syrup and Kumamoto-grown kinako on the side,
so you can drizzle, sprinkle, and customize each bite to your liking! ♬

As you dig in, you’ll discover the chewy warabimochi,
creamy kinako cream, and sweet azuki red beans hiding inside—
a multi-flavor adventure in one adorable bear-shaped bowl! (≧∀≦)

I also tried the Pick-Your-Own 3-Item Set (680 yen), choosing:
Sweet #1: Warm Mitarashi Dango,
Sweet #2: Warm Warabimochi,
Drink: Apple Juice.

I picked apple juice because it’s kid-friendly,
but for an extra charge you can upgrade to Pie Drink, Pie Float, Warabimochi Float,
Warabimochi Drink, or Hot Warabimochi Drink
instead (*^^*)

The warm mitarashi dango was so soft
that even the kids gobbled it up,
and the warm warabimochi was tender enough
to cut easily with chopsticks—
the pairing with kinako is absolutely heavenly! ♬

Takeout is also available!

Drinks like Warabimochi Drinks and Pie Drinks are available to-go,
and you can even take home the adorable Bear Shaved Ice!
It’s truly a one-of-a-kind warabimochi specialty shop where you can enjoy authentic Japanese sweets in countless ways (*´∀`)♪
