December Highlights

We hosted another wonderful edition of “Kasumiso Hiroba,” the parent-and-child gathering space born from Saru-Kuma!

This time, in the spirit of Christmas, we held a special “Mini-Concert”!
More than 20 mothers and their little ones joined us for the festive fun.

First up was Fuu-chan with her singing picture-book performance.
With songs, stories, and interactive play all rolled into one, the children were completely captivated.
She prepared a wonderful 30-minute program, and the kids enjoyed every minute of it.
Last year, Fuu-chan’s daughter was tucked behind the picture book — it’s amazing how quickly a year flies by!
Fuu-chan is based in Mashiki Town and performs at events all across Kumamoto Prefecture with her music ♪

Next up was Mitchan with her beautiful flute performance ♪
With Fuu-chan joining in for some sing-alongs and plenty of familiar Disney and Studio Ghibli melodies, even the children who were tired of sitting still started tapping their feet, clapping their hands, and joyfully playing along with toys while the music filled the room.
We hope all the moms enjoyed this rare chance to hear live music up close!

This year, we once again invited the lovely grandmothers from the local day-service center to join us.
They were delighted by the music — and even more so by the children, smiling and saying “How adorable!” in the local Kumamoto dialect. The moms also enjoyed chatting with them, creating a heartwarming intergenerational exchange that made all of us so happy to witness.

Once again, Yusui Nursery School Toyooka generously lent us a height/weight scale and a wide variety of toys.

How to Sign Up for the Next Event

Our next gathering will take place on Wednesday, January 21st.
We’ll be welcoming “Akko-sensei,” who runs Eurhythmics classes in Kumamoto City’s Kita and Minami wards, for a fun music-and-movement session!
It’s the perfect way to loosen up stiff bodies during chilly January weather — moms and kids alike can enjoy moving along to live music together.

Same-day cancellations and coming-and-going during the event are absolutely fine!
Parking: Free
Restrooms: Western-style toilets, no baby guards installed, but the multipurpose room has a diaper-changing table.
Breastfeeding is welcome too!
If you need any assistance, please don’t hesitate to ask our staff.
Whether you live in Koshi City or not, whether your child is a baby or older — everyone is welcome!
Crying, running around, arriving late, or leaving early — all completely OK!
Kids will be kids, and that’s perfectly fine with us!

Every month, the principal of Yusui Nursery School Toyooka joins us at the gathering.
He brings along useful tools, toys, and even a height/weight scale for the children to use.
He’s happy to answer any questions about preschool searches, daycare life, or even what it’s really like to work at a nursery school.
During the activities, you might even spot a baby who has wandered over and made themselves comfortable on his lap. (laughs)
He’s incredibly friendly and approachable, so please don’t hesitate to strike up a conversation! (^^)
