Introducing Shirokuma Bocchan-an

Hello travelers! This is Asukarando, a writer for [SaruKuma].

Today we’re featuring a charming little spot located in Ikeda, Nishi-ku, Kumamoto City:
[Shirokuma Bocchan-an].

Tucked away at the back of ‘Cube Garden’—a quirky complex of green container houses—you’ll find ‘Shirokuma Bocchan-an’ (*^^*)

There’s also a lovely terrace area, perfect for enjoying treats outdoors when the weather is nice (^-^)

Inside, Shirokuma Bocchan-an offers both table seating and counter seats—cozy and welcoming.

Recommended Menu at Shirokuma Bocchan-an

Of course, we had to try the signature item! (^-^)

We chose Bocchan-yaki in tsubu-an (red bean) and gomoku (savory) flavors

The kids loved watching them being made from across the counter (*^^*)

Each one is grilled fresh right in front of you after you order (^^)v

They come out so piping hot you can barely hold them!

Itadakimasu! (Time to dig in!) (^o^)/

After letting them cool just enough, we finally broke one open and—

Plump, fluffy red beans tumbled out! (^o^)/

The dough has just a hint of saltiness, and the filling is gently sweet—the perfect balance. We finished it in seconds (*^^*)

Gomoku (savory mix) – 180 yen

This savory version is robustly seasoned—almost like a meal in itself—and filled with kinpira (braised burdock root and carrot).
It works as either a snack or a light lunch (^-^)

Cotton candy that kids adore! 400 yen

Once you see it, you can’t resist! The adorable bear illustration is so charming—just looking at it puts a smile on your face (*^^*)

We enjoyed our treats inside, but they were so good (and disappeared so quickly!)…

…that we ended up grabbing some to take away too!

They even include reheating tips for when your takeout has cooled down—handy advice to enjoy them at their best (^-^)

If you find yourself near Cube Garden in Ikeda, definitely stop by Shirokuma Bocchan-an—it’s that good! (*^^*)
