Ramen Niboraya Uto Branch โ€” Shop Introduction

Hello there!
This is Maru, a writer for Sarukuma ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ™ƒ

Today we’re heading to Shinmatsubara-cho, Uto City, Kumamoto Prefecture to visit
“Ramen Niboraya Uto Branch”.

Niboraya is famous for its niboshi (dried sardine) ramen.
It’s also a wonderfully family-friendly spot โ€” highly recommended if you’re traveling with kids ๐Ÿ‘ฆ๐Ÿ‘ง

You’ll find the shop along Route 14, just a short distance from Uto City Mall. Parking is conveniently located right in front.Ordering uses a meal ticket vending machine โ€” common in Japan, but a fun cultural experience if you’re new to it.

The shop is well-stocked with kids’ high chairs and a shelf full of picture books โ€” a real haven for families!

Inside, there are table seatsโ€ฆ

โ€ฆas well as a counter for solo diners.

One pleasant surprise โ€” the restroom is spacious and easy to use, with a wide entrance, too.

Even the diaper-changing area is thoughtfully equipped โ€” a dedicated trash bin for used diapers comes complete with disposal bags. A genuinely thoughtful touch for traveling families!

Ramen Niboraya Uto Branch โ€” Recommended Menu

Here’s the menu:

Niboraya Set (Niboshi Ramen + Mini Soft-Boiled Egg Rice Bowl): 950 yen
Niboshi Ramen (with rice): 850 yen
Tantan-men (with rice): 950 yen
Curry Ramen (limited to 50 servings per day, with rice): 950 yen, and more.

The shop even shares a detailed guide on how to enjoy the niboshi ramen “two ways”, so you can study the technique while you wait for your bowl to arrive (^^)

And here it comes!
Niboshi Ramen (with rice): 850 yen.

A beautiful amber-colored broth.

The niboshi (dried sardine) flavor comes through clearly โ€” light yet rich with depth.
This is ramen you can enjoy without an ounce of guilt โ€” wholesome, gentle, and satisfying!

Help yourself to the bonito flakes (katsuobushi) on the table and sprinkle them into your bowl!

It’s said this little trick takes the deliciousness up a notchโ€ฆ

โ€ฆand yes, it’s true! The umami soars to a whole new level!

The noodles cling to that flavorful broth beautifully โ€” before you know it, you’ll be slurping your way to the bottom of the bowl!

The soft-boiled flavored egg and melt-in-your-mouth chashu pork are pure bliss (^O^)

And the real treat after the ramen? Pour your rice into the remaining broth to create zosui โ€” Japanese rice porridge!

For the zosui, the shop recommends adding a sprinkle of “Kuro Shichimi” โ€” a special black seven-spice blend imported from Kyoto.

With sansho pepper and a touch of traditional Japanese herbs, it adds a fragrant heat that completely transforms the flavor โ€” the perfect twist (^O^)

And here’s the Niboshi Ramen Koburi-chan โ€” 750 yen

This smaller portion of ramen and rice is perfect for ladies or kids with a moderate appetite.

Delicious to the very last drop โ€” Niboraya’s niboshi ramen is a must-try when you’re in Uto City! Highly recommended ๏ผผ(^o^)๏ผ
