About Eco Eight Yatsushiro Green Park
Hello there! I’m Aikero, a Sarukuma writer who tends to get hooked on one food at a time and eat nothing else for weeks.
Today I’m introducing a wonderful spot located in Minatomachi, Yatsushiro City:
Eco Eight Yatsushiro Green Park.
This seaside park sits inside the Yatsushiro City Environmental Center, just 10 minutes by car from Kumamon Port and Yume Town Yatsushiro, and 25 minutes from the Yatsushiro Interchange.
With a spacious parking lot and an impressive collection of large ocean-themed playground equipment, it’s a fantastic spot for families!
There are thrilling slides and wide open spaces perfect for ball games or running around, so we highly recommend bringing a bento and spending a relaxed day here (^^)/
This park was previously covered by our writer Igaguri-san.
The park is located within the Yatsushiro City Environmental Center known as Eco Eight Yatsushiro.
It shows up clearly on Google Maps navigation, so you’ll have no trouble finding your way.
The roomy parking lot is another big plus.
The restrooms are on the opposite side from the playground equipment, so they’re a bit of a walk — it’s a good idea to use them before heading to the play area.
The multipurpose restroom comes equipped with a diaper-changing station and even a kids’ toilet!
It’s quite rare to find a park with a children’s toilet, which is a wonderful touch for families with little ones.
There’s also a vending machine right next to the restrooms.
Please note that pets (except service dogs) and bicycles are not permitted inside the park.
Right next to the playground, you’ll find a covered rest area.
Since there’s no natural shade from trees, this is a real lifesaver on bright sunny days.
There’s also a deck area where you can soak in the ocean breeze.
It’s a wonderfully open and refreshing spot.
Over by the road, there’s a giant ship!
Beyond the regular playground equipment, there are tons of fun discoveries waiting for kids ♪
The grassy field is wonderfully spacious, too.
The wind picks up quite a bit here, so next time I’m planning to bring a kite!
Why You’ll Love Eco Eight Yatsushiro Green Park
The star attractions are the giant ship and whale playground structures with an ocean theme.
Just looking at them gets your imagination going!
With multiple slides on offer, both little ones and elementary schoolers will be over the moon!
For thrill-seekers, check out the blue slide and the red tunnel slide in the back!
The darkness inside the tunnel and the unseeable path ahead create a real heart-pumping rush.
Standing at the top of the blue slide takes a tiny bit of courage before you push off…
But once you slide down, the fun completely overpowers the nerves and you’ll be totally hooked (*’ω’*)
My daughter, who at first declared she was too scared to go, ended up sliding down 20 times in a row! Haha.
The banana-shaped slide was easy enough for my 3-year-old to ride solo, so it’s perfect for younger children too.
And there’s actually another slide hidden on the back side of the ship…
This one has a wavy ripple along one side.
My 3-year-old absolutely loved the wavy version and slid down it again and again with non-stop giggles.
With the ship motif, kids can pretend they’re sailors on an adventure.
Beyond the equipment itself, there’s so much room for imaginative play with parents and children together!
And here’s the whale-themed structure.
Climb up the net inside the whale’s mouth and…
…you’ll find tons of activities that get the whole body moving!
In my daughter’s imagination, the ground was the ocean!
This part was a bit tricky for a 3-year-old, so I had to come to the rescue. Haha.
Yatsushiro City is blessed with plenty of large playgrounds and spacious parks.
If you’re looking for an open, uncrowded park with a relaxed atmosphere, Eco Eight Yatsushiro Green Park is the perfect pick!
Since the sea breeze can be chilly, don’t forget to bundle up during the colder months.
With Yume Town Yatsushiro and Kumamon Port both close by, it’s the ideal spot for some outdoor fun while you’re running errands or sightseeing in the area (^^)/
Definitely give it a visit!
