Introducing SOUP DA COODE
Hello there! This is Mido 🌳, your Sarukuma writer.
Today I’m excited to share SOUP DA COODE, tucked away in Kubota, Kikuyo Town.
【SOUP DA COODE】
This charming little spot opened in January 2023 ✨
It’s set in a quiet residential area, just one street back from National Route 57 — easy to miss if you’re not looking for it 👀
The owners share the storefront space, and they’re only open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (11:30 AM–4:00 PM). I had driven past this road countless times without ever noticing the shop!
But here’s the thing!
When they’re open, the cheerful yellow banners and flags out front are impossible to miss!
That’s exactly what caught my eye — I felt almost magnetically pulled toward the shop.
There’s also parking available right in front of the store 🚙

The standing signboard out front displays the day’s soup selection!

Takeout is available too! I was already debating whether to take it home as I stepped inside ✨
The interior is gorgeous! (Okay, definitely eating in!)
There’s a counter seating area and…
Two cozy table seats!

Here’s the menu!
・One-Soup Set: 700 yen
・Two-Soup Set: 900 yen
Add coffee or tea for an additional 200 yen.
Takeout options are also available:
・Large size: 480 yen
・Small size: 350 yen
You can choose from three different soups — and they all looked absolutely divine 🥰
Minestrone is the signature dish served every week, while the other two soups rotate weekly.
Here’s a wonderful surprise for families: their classic minestrone is offered at just 100 yen for elementary school children and younger 😲!
(*Child must be present in person)
The soups are crafted with carefully selected Kumamoto-grown ingredients and locally sourced vegetables.
Each bowl contains over 150g of vegetables, and the minestrone packs in more than 250g ✨
And that’s not all…
The counter was lined with the most tempting array of breads! Let me introduce them 💛
・Multigrain Cheese: 210 yen
・Multigrain Bacon: 210 yen
・Walnut & Sweet Red Bean: 200 yen
・Walnut, Sweet Red Bean & Cream Cheese: 250 yen
・Walnut Cheese: 200 yen
・Walnut Butter: 180 yen
・Multigrain Bread: 350 yen

And just look at this fluffy focaccia! ✨
・Focaccia (1 slice): 200 yen
The focaccia is baked fresh daily using natural yeast and goes through long, slow low-temperature fermentation to bring out maximum flavor.
They use 100% rare domestic Haruyutaka wheat from Japan, and it’s so gentle that even babies can safely enjoy it.
It’s also egg-free, making it a wonderful option for visitors with egg allergies ♪
Even the salt is special — they use natural crystal salt for that perfect finishing touch!
SOUP DA COODE Recommended Menu
This time, I ordered the One-Soup Set for 700 yen!
After much deliberation, I went with the “Wagyu Beef Tendon and Spring Vegetable Soup Curry.”
For the bread/rice option, I chose the focaccia.
Tada!
First of all, that vibrant rainbow of vegetables is such a treat 💛
The wagyu tendon was incredibly tender, packed with seasonal spring vegetables — pure deliciousness ✨
A broth bursting with umami, with vegetables that have soaked up every drop of flavor.
It’s the kind of warmth that nourishes you from the inside out.
And the focaccia is wonderfully soft and chewy!
Delicious on its own, and even better dipped in the soup!
Both the soup and focaccia were absolutely incredible 💛💛💛
Following a regular customer’s recommendation, I also took home the “Walnut, Sweet Red Bean & Cream Cheese” bread.
And here’s the cross-section! Tada!
Walnuts, cream cheese, and sweet red bean paste — the perfect trio!
The walnuts are kneaded into the dough itself, with each tiny piece making its presence beautifully known.
This bread was an absolute winner too!
Since soup is such a quick meal, it’s perfect for those days when you’re short on time.
(But if you have a moment to spare, do savor it ☺)
This deeply satisfying, vegetable-rich soup is exactly what busy parents need to recharge.
You’ll feel energized and ready to take on the world afterward ✨
One more thing about SOUP DA COODE: they host a children’s cafeteria (kodomo shokudo) on the 4th Saturday of each month!
