Today, we’re heading to a hidden gem tucked away in Tsuboi, Chuo Ward, Kumamoto City:
ocami coffee — a stylish café that’s been winning over locals and curious travelers alike!

Here’s the exterior — and look for the adorable pink vending machine out front. That’s your landmark!

This vending machine is a fun touch — you can grab ocami coffee’s own coffee beans and drip coffee packs anytime, day or night ♪

The parking lot is located in the back.
It’s tucked a bit out of sight, so keep your eyes peeled!

The same property also hosts a clothing boutique and an art gallery.
They looked tempting too… but today, we’re staying focused on coffee!

Walk down the charming back-alley passage and…

You step into a beautifully relaxed, stylish interior!
The whole space is wrapped in the rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee — pure bliss for the senses.

The interior design is full of eye-catching details — I couldn’t stop looking around the entire time! (laughs)

Beyond the coffee beans, the shop also sells original T-shirts and merchandise — perfect for a unique Kumamoto souvenir!
(The T-shirt designs were so cute that, even though I was just here to write about the place, I ended up buying one!)

What to Order at ocami coffee

Beyond coffee, the menu also offers cocoa, banana shakes, and more — so even non-coffee drinkers in your group will find something to love!

Our editor-in-chief ordered the cold brew coffee, while I went for the frozen caramel latte and an anko (sweet red bean) toast.

I was completely worn out from the summer heat, but that frozen caramel latte was pure refreshment — body and soul revived!
As for the anko toast — loaded with rich butter and generous heaps of sweet red bean paste — it’s a deliciously sinful Japanese-Western fusion treat… (laughs)

If you’re looking for a peaceful escape from sightseeing in Kumamoto, ocami coffee is the perfect spot to slow down and enjoy a great cup.
