Introducing Arakaki Tacos

Hello, this is Mido, a writer for [Sarukuma]!

Today I’m introducing a gem located in Kikuchi City Waifu:
[Arakaki Tacos]

This is a specialty restaurant serving authentic Okinawan-style tacos and taco rice!
You’ll find it just a stone’s throw from Kikuchi City Hall.

I had a sudden craving for tacos and stumbled upon this delicious-looking spot — so off I went to try it for myself!
There’s parking for about 3 cars right in front of the shop.
Step inside and you’re greeted with this view ✨
Upbeat Okinawan music plays in the background — the vibes will lift your spirits before the food even arrives!
In the back there’s a traditional tatami zashiki seating area 😊
Perfect for families with little ones to relax ✨ There are 3 table seats with comfortable backrests — easy to settle in.There’s also counter seating, with classic Orion Beer paper lanterns adding to the laid-back Okinawan atmosphere ♪

Now, let’s check out the menu!
(All prices include tax)

This hearty combo gives you the best of both worlds ✨Okinawan Soki Soba: 900 yenMozuku Seaweed Tempura: 350 yen

Here’s the full menu list ✨
First up — the lunch & dinner menus.
You can also get tacos in a half-size order — 2 pieces for 500 yen! Perfect when you want to sample more variety.

They also have curly fries that kids absolutely love ♪
And of course, Blue Seal ice cream, the legendary Okinawan brand 🍧

The drink menu is packed with Okinawan flavors — handmade shikuwasa juice, guava juice, sanpin tea (jasmine tea), and the curiously delicious root beer.
Alcohol options include shikuwasa sour, mango sour, and Orion Beer 🍺

Here’s the dinner menu.
The evening menu looks just as tempting!
Next to the register, you can even buy koregusu (Okinawan chili pepper sauce) to take home!
They also sell sata andagi (traditional Okinawan donuts) — apparently a customer favorite ✨

Arakaki Tacos: Recommended Menu Highlights

This time I ordered the tacos (4 pieces), soki soba, and mozuku tempura!
Behold — the tacos ✨
There are two kinds of homemade salsa: spicy and mild!
No ketchup is used in either, and the staff recommend pouring it on generously for the best flavor.
So I poured it on liberally ♪
This salsa is absolutely incredible!!!
I even went back for seconds ✨
The handmade taco shell is wonderfully crispy — I devoured it in seconds!
Inside: seasoned taco meat, melty cheese, and crisp fresh lettuce ✨
Some fillings spilled onto my plate, but the shop has a friendly sign warning “You’ll almost certainly drop some” — so no worries! lol
And here’s the soki soba.
I came for the tacos, but the soki soba completely blew me away ✨
The noodles have an amazing chewy, springy texture.
In fact, they use noodles that won an award at an Okinawan soba competition!
The pork is so tender and beautifully soaked with flavor.
I added some koregusu chili sauce for an extra kick ♪
The mozuku seaweed tempura is served with salt for dipping.
It has a wonderfully chewy texture — another delicious hit ✨
(The piece in the photo has been cut in half.)

I also took a sata andagi to-go and snacked on it later.
Light and crispy on the outside, with a gentle sweetness — it’s easy to see why this is a customer favorite!
Honestly, every single thing I tried was outstanding ✨

Takeout is also available!
Since Arakaki Tacos is close to Kikuchi Park, grabbing some tacos to-go and enjoying them in the park makes for a perfect afternoon.

And as the cooler seasons approach, why not pair your visit with a relaxing trip to Kikuchi Onsen (hot springs)? ♪
Definitely give this place a try when you’re exploring Kumamoto 🚙♪
