Today I’d like to introduce a wonderful spot located in
Ueki-machi, Kita Ward, Kumamoto City —
Ueki Central Park (Ueki Chuo Koen).

Because this park is still relatively new,
the playground equipment and restrooms are clean, and there are sports facilities, jogging paths,
and exercise stations — so it’s enjoyed by everyone from young children to seniors.

The parking area is very spacious.

The restrooms are new, and there’s also a diaper-changing station.
Personally, I really appreciate the small platform for changing pants.
When toddlers around 2–3 years old transition to cloth underwear,
having a stable place where you can take off shoes and change pants is incredibly helpful.
I honestly wish every multipurpose restroom had one.
Maybe I’m just biased…(-_-;)

There’s a hand-washing station next to the parking lot, plus two more around the park.

Here’s the one near the exercise stations.

There’s another hand-washing station at the back of the sports ground.
It’s a bit far in the photo, but can you see it?
Perfect for grabbing a drink when you get thirsty during a walk (^-^)

There are so many benches scattered throughout — almost too many (laughs)!
There’s also at least one shaded resting spot with a roof.

A vending machine is located on the front-left side as you enter the gymnasium.

What Makes This Park Special

This time, we set up a tent and spent a relaxing day here.
The autumn breeze felt absolutely wonderful.

There’s also this kind of climbing challenge — tricky, but my son tackled it (^o^)

There’s also a fenced-in play area so younger children can play safely.
It’s perfect for little ones who are just learning to walk — parents can relax here.

There are also toddler swings.

A smaller slide too — just right for tiny tots.

There’s also a tennis court, sports field, and gymnasium available for use (paid).

The park also has a great variety of outdoor exercise equipment.
With so many options, you’ll never get bored of working out here.

For example, here’s one of them.
If you tried every single piece, it would be quite a workout!

A jogging course circles the entire park,
with distance markers every 100 meters — handy for tracking your steps.
One full lap is about 950m.

I walked the loop with my son, exchanging friendly greetings with passersby.
With the gentle breeze, it’s the perfect spot for the upcoming season (^-^)/

Here are the park’s posted rules.
I thought it would be fine to let my child use a balance bike as long as we stayed off the jogging course,
but a staff member explained that balance bikes are OK only if a parent is holding onto them.
Kids riding freely on their own can pose a danger to elderly visitors, so it’s a NO-GO.
