Introducing Agedokoro Sugure

Hello travelers!
This is Binako, a writer for Sarukuma — and yes, I have meat on the brain (and everywhere else)!

Today I’m taking you to Jin, Mifune Town, Kamimashiki District in Kumamoto Prefecture, to a wonderful little karaage shop called “Agedokoro Sugure.”

Look for the bright yellow shop right along the road — you can’t miss it.
Fun landmark: there’s a rice polishing machine right next door!

You can park your car right in front of the shop.

There’s also outdoor counter seating available.
On a sunny day, picking up a bento and eating outside sounds like the perfect plan.

Right next to that is a vending machine, and beside the vending machine you’ll find an eat-in space.
If you’d like to dine in, just let the staff know when you place your order!

Step inside and you’ll see colorful photos of every bento on the menu.
It’s so helpful to see exactly what you’re ordering at a glance.
Great for kids too — they can simply point and say, “I want THIS one!” ♪

Beyond the lunch boxes, the shop also offers à la carte items and side dishes by themselves.
You can grab something to round out your dinner at home, pack a lunch for a day out — whatever suits the moment.

Must-Try Menu at Agedokoro Sugure

And today, I went straight for the recommended pick:
the Karaage Bento (550 yen)!

So much karaage that the lid barely closes.
And that alone would already make me happy — but wait, there’s more…

Believe it or not, the bento includes
“Salt Karaage,” “Soy Sauce Karaage,” “Garlic Karaage,” and “Sweet & Sour Green Onion Sauce Karaage” —
that’s FOUR different kinds of karaage in one box!

I couldn’t help but think out loud, “How luxurious!!” (And I really meant it.)

It even comes with a packet of mayonnaise — a delightful bonus.

Let’s start with the salt karaage.

Can you see all that meat juice?
The salt seasoning is perfectly balanced, beautifully complementing the juicy chicken. Absolutely delicious.

Next, the soy sauce karaage.
The deep umami of the chicken meets the clean, mellow richness of soy sauce —
an irresistible combo that practically begs for rice.

Now for the garlic karaage.
That punch of bold garlic aroma is incredibly tasty.
The meat is plump and juicy, and the more you eat, the more flavor you discover.

And finally, the sweet & sour green onion sauce karaage.
Generously topped with green onions — a dream come true for any negi (green onion) lover.

I mean it — this is pure indulgence.
The sweet sauce coats the chicken and pairs gloriously with white rice.
Thanks to the vinegar, it’s never heavy, so you could honestly keep eating one piece after another.

The bento also comes with a generous mound of rice,
so one box is more than enough to share between an adult and a child!

And to top it all off, you even get a fried shumai dumpling tucked in there…
With this much volume and four kinds of karaage,
550 yen is incredibly easy on the wallet.
