Hello, fellow travelers!
It’s Ayu-mama, your Sarukuma writer!

Today I’m excited to introduce Hamasen Health Park,
located in Yoshimachi, Minami Ward, Kumamoto City.

True to its name, the park sits right along the Hamasen Bypass!
Hamasen Health Park is a comprehensive sports complex featuring a swimming pool, gymnasium, tennis courts, and athletic grounds!
It’s a beloved community spot where locals come to stay active and healthy.

There’s plenty of parking β€” perfect for visitors with rental cars!

Here’s the gymnasium and pool. The signage makes everything easy to find!
On the day I visited, a local kindergarten was holding its sports day in the gym!

The pool fees are surprisingly affordable β€” super accessible for everyone!

The grounds are wonderfully spacious…

…and there are tennis courts too!
Locals were enjoying their morning workout, working up a great sweat on this lovely day off!
There’s even a water fountain right in front of the courts!

Vending machines are conveniently placed near the tennis courts too!

Restrooms are right by the tennis courts.

And these restrooms even have child-sized seats β€” a thoughtful touch for families!

The outer perimeter doubles as a jogging course!
With plenty of shade trees, it’s a comfortable run even on warm days!

What Makes This Park Special

The biggest highlight? The amazing athletic playground equipment!

Hidden behind the main grounds, you’ll discover an incredible adventure playground!
Did you know it was here?!
A wooden suspension bridge!
A log-climbing structure!
And what is this contraption?! (laughs)
How exactly do you conquer it?
There’s also a climbing wall with a tunnel slide β€” sorry for the lousy description! (haha)
The classic Tarzan rope β€” always a kid favorite!
Plus a large multi-feature playset complete with slides!
The variety of athletic playground equipment is truly impressive!
With abundant tree cover, kids can play comfortably even during Kumamoto’s hot summer months.
There’s also a restroom right beside the playground β€” no need to travel far, which is a huge relief for parents!
The beauty of these wooden adventure structures is that kids can feel the natural warmth of the timber while playing freely with their whole bodies β€” pure joy!
Big acorns scatter the ground, too β€”
our kids loved gathering them up as a fun seasonal activity!
Autumn is the season for sports β€” why not visit Hamasen Health Park and get active together as a family?
