📌 What You’ll Learn in This Article
A SaruKuma writer visits “Ramen Negiya” in Masunaga, Arao City, and shares a firsthand report. Price range: from 750 yen. We’ve also rounded up family-friendly tips, access info, and opening hours.

Introducing Ramen Negiya

Hello there!
This is Igaguri 🌰, writer for SaruKuma.

Today I’m introducing
Ramen Negiya, located in Masunaga, Arao City, Kumamoto Prefecture—a gem of a ramen shop you won’t want to miss.

The shop sits at the intersection between “Kuraudou” (which I introduced previously) and Arao City Mall, making it easy to find on a food-hopping day around Arao.

The parking lot is right next to the shop, so driving here is super convenient—a real plus for international visitors renting a car in Kumamoto.

Look! A Tanjiro-style noren curtain! (Fans of Demon Slayer will spot the reference right away.)

I’m guessing they get plenty of families with kids here.

Inside, you’ll find two traditional Japanese tatami (zashiki) seating areas and one regular table.

There are also about four counter seats.

I happened to drop by right after opening, so the shop was empty—but it’s usually packed, and you’ll often see a line forming outside.

They even have kids’ chairs available—great news for families!

Recommended Menu at Ramen Negiya

Each ramen comes in two styles:
Assari (light)
Kotteri (rich)
The rich version is +50 yen.

You can add toppings, of course, and adjust the spice level to your taste.

On weekdays, a small bowl of white rice comes free with your meal—a delightful bonus!

The only set menu currently available is the C Set, which includes a mini Char-Tama (chashu and egg) rice bowl.

There are even photos of the ramen on the menu, making it easy to order—even if you can’t read Japanese.

Their Taiwan ramen also has a great reputation among locals (^^♪

This time, I ordered the Grilled Negi (Green Onion) Ramen Kotteri for 750 yen.
It came with rice and even a side of pickles—what a treat! \(◎o◎)/!

And here’s the Grilled Negi Ramen Assari (light) for 700 yen.

The fragrant grilled white scallions and the aroma of sesame oil come together to make a bowl you simply can’t find anywhere else.
I love this grilled negi ramen so much I find myself craving it constantly—Igaguri 🌰 here, of course!
Even as I’m writing this, I’m dying to go back and order another bowl…

It’s a Japanese-style tonkotsu (pork bone) ramen, and thanks to the rich, well-developed dashi broth, the flavor is surprisingly sweet.

Even kids gobble it right up (^^♪

I’m normally the type to leave the broth behind, but at Negiya, I almost always end up drinking every last drop. (lol)

That’s how good it is!

And here’s the classic Ramen Assari (light) for 600 yen.

Heads up: Google Maps and other sites may list dinner hours and gyoza on the menu, but currently the shop is open for lunch only and gyoza is unavailable—so plan accordingly!

If you’re a fan of green onions, this is one bowl of ramen you absolutely have to try (^_-)-☆
