Today, I’m excited to introduce you to
“Genki no Mori Park”,
located in Ikutomi, Koshi City, Kumamoto Prefecture.

You’ll find it right across from Misuzu Kindergarten!

This park is absolutely brimming with greenery,
with leafy trees creating a beautiful canopy overhead.

On the day I visited, plenty of locals were enjoying themselves —
some relaxing in outdoor chairs and on picnic blankets in the shade,
others strolling along the walking paths.
It’s clearly a beloved spot in the community!

It’s amazing to find such an expansive park tucked into a residential neighborhood!

There’s plenty of parking available!

You’ll even find a covered accessible parking area for visitors with disabilities!

Vending machines are available too — and there are more besides this one!

And here are the restrooms!

With its lush greenery and wide-open space,
this park is absolutely perfect for the comfortable seasons ahead!

What Makes This Park Special

There’s a fantastic large playground structure!

The kids were completely absorbed playing on the slides and crawling through the tunnels!

There are two pavilions (azumaya) inside the park,
and since this one happened to be free, we enjoyed our bento lunch right here ☆

The water feature wasn’t filled at the time of our visit,
but even so, the lovely tree-shaded area
made for a wonderful play space for the kids ☆

Winding pathways throughout the park make for a lovely walking course!

You’ll also find a drinking fountain and hand-washing station ☆

This area near the parking lot offers
shady spots and benches, and on the day we visited,
we spotted a lovely couple enjoying their lunch here!

The park has plenty of benches throughout,
and we noticed many adults
simply unwinding in the cool tree shade ♪
