Hello, travelers!
This is Rikotama, writer for SaruKuma!

Today I’m introducing a wonderful spot in
Komori, Nishihara Village, Aso District, Kumamoto Prefecture:
Tawarayama Koryukan Moe-no-Sato.

It sits right at the foot of Mt. Tawarayama!
The nearby Yamada Farm, also previously featured on SaruKuma, is just a short hop away β˜†

Open from 9:30 to 17:30!
We arrived just after 10am on a weekday, and the parking lot was already about 80% full!

There’s parking right in front of the main building, plus…

…a second overflow lot too!

Restrooms are conveniently located in two spots: by the parking lot and inside the main building.
Both are equipped with diaper-changing stations β€” great news for families with little ones β™ͺ

Right at the entrance you’ll find a delicious soft-serve corner β™‘

Step inside, and the shop is brimming with locally grown vegetables and fresh seasonal fruit!

You’ll also spot heaps of freshly made bento boxes prepared that very morning (≧▽≦)

There’s a snack corner too, featuring traditional Kumamoto treats like ikinari dango (sweet potato dumplings)!

And a happy surprise! Rusks and breads from Keyaki Kobo Handmade Bakery β€” another local favorite previously covered on SaruKuma β€” are sold here too (*^β–½^*)

Highlights You Don’t Want to Miss

The signature activity at Moe-no-Sato? Grass sledding!!!

An enormous, gently sloping lawn that practically begs you to come slide down it!

Stopped by on the spur of the moment and forgot to bring a sled? No problem!

You can pick up a grass sled for just 1,100 yen on-site (・ω・)γƒŽ

Here’s how the slope looks on a busy weekend!

Kids and adults alike were having a blast zooming down on sleds and even cardboard boxes (*^β–½^*)

And there’s another delightful surprise that kids absolutely love ☝

Take the path heading up to the right of the main building, and you’ll discover…

…a goat pen!!!

As soon as the kids walked up, the friendly goat trotted right over to greet them β˜†

A second one joined later β€” looks like there are two goats living here!

And just behind the main building, a massive cosmos flower field stretches as far as the eye can see!!

This is what it looked like in early October.
The blooms were almost at their peak β€” absolutely stunning (*^β–½^*)

Shop, snack, play, and unwind however you like at Tawarayama Koryukan Moe-no-Sato!
It’s a perfect day-trip stop while exploring the Aso countryside β™ͺ
