Today, we’re heading to a hidden gem in Hyakkenmachi, Minamata City, Kumamoto Prefecture β€”
“Chikurin-en” (Bamboo Garden).

It’s a peaceful Japanese-style park filled with many varieties of bamboo.

The parking lot is spacious with plenty of room for multiple vehicles (^-^)

Restrooms and vending machines are conveniently located right next to the parking lot.

There are also two more restrooms inside the park.
This one is right at the entrance.
It’s a sizable facility split into three separate buildings (^^)

And here’s the second restroom, located near the center of the park.

Hand-washing stations can also be found near the center of the park.

Now, let’s step into Chikurin-en! οΌΌ(^o^)/

The traditional Japanese atmosphere greets you right at the entrance (^-^)

Just inside the entrance, you’ll find a cozy resting area (^-^)v

Right beside it stretches an enormous open lawn!!!

Perfect for tossing a ball, running around, or pretty much anything you can imagine (^-^)v

From the lawn, you can spot a tranquil pond home to ducks and koi carp (^^)

You can even cross the pond on stepping stones β€” a fun little adventure!

Although there’s no playground equipment here,
the park features many different bamboo varieties along its winding walking paths (^-^)

A leisurely stroll through the grounds is an absolute joy (^Π·^)-β˜†

I spotted plenty of bamboo species I’d never seen before!

Benches are scattered throughout, perfect for a quick break when your feet need a rest (^-^)

There’s even a beautifully crafted Japanese-style bridge that adds to the charm (^-^)v

Along the walking path you’ll find traditional chaya (covered rest pavilions)
that enhance the tranquil ambiance (^-^)

This one is the “Machi no Chaya” (Town Tea Pavilion) (^-^)v

And this is the “Yama no Chaya” (Mountain Tea Pavilion) (^-^)v

Each pavilion has its own unique design, so it’s fun to pick a favorite (^-^)v
Each one also has its own hand-washing station β€” handy and reassuring (^-^)

And finally, the “Sato no Chaya” (Village Tea Pavilion) (^-^)v

It’s a wonderful change of scenery to enjoy a packed lunch or snack break in a setting like this (^q^)

There’s also a charming little water feature with the same serene atmosphere.

Toward the back of the park, you’ll discover a lovely waterfall (^-^)

Beyond the waterfall is yet another lawn, surrounded entirely by bamboo (^^)

For a quiet, refreshing experience away from the usual tourist crowds, Chikurin-en is a wonderful place to slow down and savor the moment (βŒ’0βŒ’)/~~
