Introducing Eco Park Minamata Sea Zone

Hello travelers! I’m Kanao, your Sarukuma writer.

Today I’m excited to share Eco Park Minamata Sea Zone,
located in Shiomi-cho, Minamata City.
For the full picture, I recommend pairing this with my earlier piece on Eco Park Minamata’s Sato (Village) Zone.

Eco Park Minamata Sato Zone (Shiomi-cho, Minamata City) – Don’t Miss Southern Kumamoto’s Biggest Park! Part 1

The Sea Zone is located a bit further inside from the main entrance of Eco Park Minamata.

You’ll find slides, jungle gyms, and even a small bouldering wall here β—Ž

The play area features soft cushioned concrete on the ground!

It’s designed to minimize injuries from tumbles, which parents will really appreciate β—Ž

There are two parking areas: “Sea Plaza” (Umi no Hiroba) and “Children’s Plaza” (Kodomo no Hiroba).

The photo above shows the parking lot at “Sea Plaza.”

The Sea Plaza parking lot is seriously huge and spacious, but it’s a bit of a walk to the playground.

This is the “Children’s Plaza” parking lot.

It’s much closer to the playground, but smaller in both size and capacity than Sea Plaza.

β—‹ Want to be close to the playground? β†’ Children’s Plaza

↑ Use this as your decision guide!

Here are the restrooms! You’ll find them conveniently near both the playground and parking areas. Diaper-changing tables included β—Ž

A small but lovely touch: the restroom near “Sea Plaza” even has hand soap β—Ž

The restrooms throughout Eco Park Minamata are spotlessly clean.

Vending machines are conveniently located near the restrooms β—Ž

And to my delight β€” they have Seventeen Ice (a popular Japanese ice cream brand)! Bonus points! lol β—Ž!!

There’s also a covered rest area right next to the playground!

The pathways leading to the playground are beautifully maintained!

Since I parked at Sea Plaza, I had to push the stroller a bit, but the smooth path made it a breeze β—Ž

Nearby, you’ll spot tennis courts!

And a baseball field too! On the day I visited, local kids were playing a game (^^)

Eco Park Minamata Sea Zone: Top Recommended Highlights

Highlight #1: “The Slide”

The slope is gentle and the speed is mild, so even our 1-year-old could slide down on his own β—Ž

Highlight #2: this thing! Can you guess what it is?

It’s actually a swing!

This is what a 1-year-old looks like sitting on it (^^) β€” their little bottom fits snugly inside, super stable β—Ž

You can even lie back on this swing and gently sway!

Gazing up at the sky, it really feels like floating in a hammock. So peaceful β—Ž

A swing that both adults and kids can enjoy

And here’s another favorite of my son β€” a drum-like play feature that makes sounds when you tap it!

The two of us had a blast singing along and tapping away β—Ž

Outdoor sound-making playground equipment is pretty rare, so this was a real treat (^^)
