Today I’m introducing [Itsukigen Park] located in Itsuki Village, Kuma District.
It’s a wonderful park featuring a wide grassy field and large playground equipment.

Itsuki Village is famous as the home of “Japan’s cleanest river”!

Since 2006, the Kawabe River that flows through Itsuki Village has been chosen as Japan’s “cleanest river by water quality” for 16 consecutive years!

Cross the bridge, and Itsukigen Park comes into view.

The park sits in a natural setting surrounded by mountains (^^♪

The free parking lot is spacious!
We spotted families relaxing with pop-up tents, making a real day of it.

Pets are welcome too, as long as they’re on a leash.
Games using hard balls like baseball or golf are not permitted (except with special permission).

The whole area is enclosed by a fence to keep deer out, which doubles as a great safety feature — it prevents kids from running out into the parking lot.

To enter the play area, simply open the gate and step inside.

Itsuki Village is home to wild deer, monkeys, and boars year-round.
On my drive home, I even spotted a baby deer from the car window!

The space is huge and so wonderfully open!
You can’t help but want to run around.

There are clean, well-maintained Western-style toilets, including a multipurpose accessible restroom.
Vending machines and trash bins are available, but signs ask visitors to take their own trash home.

Top Highlights of Itsukigen Park

Surrounded by nature — and look at this huge playground structure!
Kids absolutely light up when they see it (^O^)

There’s also a smaller slide perfect for toddlers, so siblings of different ages can all enjoy themselves.

A small stream runs alongside fed by mountain water, though it wasn’t flowing on the day of my visit.
When the water is running, even little ones can dip their feet in and splash around safely.

You’ll also find outdoor fitness equipment lined up for adults.
And of course, the moment grown-ups start using them, the kids come running to take over (laughs)!

Benches are scattered throughout the park, perfect for resting in the shade or keeping watch over the kids while they play.

Bring along a sled and you can try grass sledding down the hills!♪
There’s a big hill and a smaller one, so you can pick what suits your child’s age.

If you climb to the top of the bigger hill…

…you’ll see the Itsuki Ogawa stream flowing alongside the park, and in the distance, the Koyae Bridge spanning the Kawabe River.

The Koyae Bridge is one of only 8 places in Japan where you can do bungee jumping!

It’s the only spot in Kyushu, and at 66 meters high, it’s the third tallest bungee jump in Japan!

Throughout the year, you can enjoy seasonal blooms — camellias, cherry blossoms, and ginkgo trees in autumn.

Right next to the park flows the Itsuki Ogawa, which feeds into Japan’s cleanest river, the Kawabe.

It can be a little tricky to spot, but look for the yellow signs (there are two of them) marking the river access.

From here, you can climb down to the river. Watch your step!

The stairs are quite steep, so be sure to hold your child’s hand carefully on the way down ^^;

This year the bottom of the stairs led right into the river, but the river’s course changes year to year — sometimes you’ll find gravel at the bottom instead.You’ll find yourself right beneath the same bridge you crossed by car on your way to Itsukigen Park.

The water is incredibly clear, the current is gentle, and the river is shallow — perfect conditions for little ones to enjoy splashing around safely ^^

The water isn’t too cold either, and there’s natural shade beneath the bridge, so you can spend a relaxing afternoon by this beautiful river.

Photos really don’t do this river justice — you have to come and see the crystal-clear water for yourself (^^♪

Work up a sweat on the giant playground, then cool off in the pristine river!
It’s a park that promises a full day of fun for the whole family!
