…as well as restrooms.

The water is crystal clear!
You can even spot a beautiful fountain.
Highlights and What Makes It Special
This is the entrance.
Right beside the entrance is an adorable little drinking fountain!
Pay your admission fee at the entrance.

Since the tunnel is quite long, wheelchair and stroller rentals are also available, making it accessible for everyone.
Here’s a fascinating bit of history: This tunnel was originally being constructed to connect Takamori Town and Takachiho Town. However, during construction, spring water suddenly gushed out and halted the work. The tunnel project was eventually abandoned, and the site was instead transformed into the beautiful park you see today — now one of the area’s most beloved tourist attractions.
Inside, you’ll find dazzling illuminations…
…and traditional bamboo lanterns (take-doro).

There’s also the mesmerizing Water Pearl display, where droplets seem to float magically through the air…
…plus picture-perfect Instagram-worthy spots!
(Doesn’t it look just like a flying carpet? ↑)
It’s a place where kids and adults alike can have a blast!
At the very back of the tunnel, you’ll discover a small shrine dedicated to the water deity (Suijin-sama).
This is the perfect place to escape the heat in summer and enjoy the cool, refreshing tunnel air!
We highly recommend adding it to your Kumamoto travel itinerary!
