Introducing Nishihirayama Park

Today we’re heading to a hidden gem in Ikenoue-machi, Nishi Ward, Kumamoto City, called
“Nishihirayama Park.”

Honestly, I was completely blown away the first time I laid eyes on this place!
Let me show you around Nishihirayama Park!

You’ll reach the park by turning off the West Bypass. The road narrows in places, but there are pull-off spots for passing oncoming cars, so you can drive in with peace of mind (^-^)

Convenient parking is available right at the park entrance.

Restrooms sit near the park entrance and look refreshingly modern and clean.

There’s also a covered rest area, perfect for shade or shelter (^-^)/

A handwashing station is conveniently located beside the benches.

What Makes Nishihirayama Park Special

Now THIS is the showstopper!!!

These mysterious stones!
What on earth are they???

It turns out these stones are ancient ruins unearthed from this very land!A complete map of the nationally designated historic site “Chibe-ji Temple Ruins.”

Restored versions are also displayed on site!

What an impressive structure!

There’s another covered rest area right next to the ruins!
This one feels brand new and beautifully maintained (^-^)

Nishihirayama Park also boasts a wide-open plaza, so you can enjoy ball games and outdoor fun (^-^)/

And with cherry blossom trees on the grounds, springtime hanami here would be absolutely magical (^з^)-☆

There’s a swing and a slide for the kids too (^-^)

Photos from the original excavation and detailed explanations of the ruins are also on display.

Nishihirayama Park is a peaceful spot where ancient history meets nature — the perfect place to slow down and unwind (⌒0⌒)／~~
