Introducing Aso Fureai Animal Kingdom

Hello there!
This is Ayu-mama, a writer for “Sarukuma.”

Today, our animal-loving family is heading to Kawayo, Minamiaso Village, Aso District to visit
Aso Fureai Animal Kingdom!

Located inside Aso Farm Land, this is an amazing facility where you can get up close with animals you don’t usually get to touch — and even try feeding them!

Here’s the parking lot.

Grab your admission ticket from this vending machine.
Adults: ¥900
Children: ¥600

Opening hours are 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM.

Right past the entrance,

you’ll find restrooms nearby — super convenient!

For an additional fee, you can also try a feeding experience.

Most of the animals roam freely throughout the park, so you can take all the photos you want and pet them to your heart’s content! (^^)

If you time it right, you might even catch the capybaras enjoying their famous bath time!!!

My son dreams of becoming a ‘zookeeper’ someday.
But here’s the thing — he’s a major scaredy-cat (ToT)
He gets nervous about feeding the animals. (A future zookeeper who can’t feed animals… we’ve got some work to do!)

Still, this time he bravely volunteered to feed the flamingos.
The flamingo pellets come in a capsule.
The plan was to take them out and feed them by hand, but…

The flamingos came rushing toward him, he panicked, and the food went all over the floor! (*_*)
Oh nooooo………

So my son ended up watching the flamingos enjoy their meal from a safely distanced spot, just staring in awe…
Looks like the feeding experience was a bust again this time, haha!
