Today I’m thrilled to introduce you to
a charming neighborhood spot in Shin-oe, Chuo Ward, Kumamoto City:
Shimoaburaden Park!

You’ll find it right next to the north exit of JR Suizenji Station — talk about convenient!

There’s no car parking, but you can park your bicycle inside the park — perfect for cyclists exploring the area!

Restrooms are available on site.

A handwashing station and drinking fountain — handy for hot Kumamoto summers.

There aren’t any covered benches, but you’ll find several regular benches scattered around to take a break.

There’s also a bus stop just behind the park ♪

Right in the center of the park, there’s even a clock!
A great little touch that helps kids keep track of playtime (*^-^*)

Vending machines can be found below the apartment building next to the park, as well as right beside Suizenji Station ♪

What Makes Shimoaburaden Park Special

Check out this awesome combination playground structure (*^▽^*)

There’s also a monkey bars setup ☆

Hmm… it’s a slightly unusual shape though (;^ω^)

Kids can climb up the rugged surface — my son even turned it into his very own slide (=ﾟωﾟ)ﾉ

There are swings as well,

plus a charming old-school seesaw (*^-^*)

Just in front of the swings is a sandbox ♬

The kids were hard at work building a tiny home for the ants (*^-^*)

I noticed the sand is nice and soft — perfect for digging and shaping!

There’s also a wide-open space!

It’s well-maintained and perfect for running around to your heart’s content!

A walking path circles the perimeter of the park — great for a leisurely stroll!
When we visited, white clover was blooming everywhere, adding such a sweet, picturesque touch ♡

One of the best surprises about Shimoaburaden Park is that it’s surrounded by apartment buildings, which means there’s actually plenty of shade!
Even in summer, you might just escape sunburn depending on the time of day (*´ω｀*)

Since it’s right next to the station, supermarkets and restaurants are just a short walk away ☆
