About the Shop

Hello travelers!

I’m Binako, a writer for Sarukuma,
and three meals a day is never quite enough for me!

Today I’m introducing a wonderful little spot located in
Kawayo, Minamiaso Village, Aso District, Kumamoto Prefecture:
“DACCO bread+cafe”.

You’ll find it right next to the local JA (Japan Agricultural Cooperatives) building!

There’s plenty of parking right out front — perfect if you’re road-tripping around Aso.

Step inside, and you’re greeted by
a beautiful display case lined with fresh-baked bread.
It’s absolutely sparkling and gorgeous!

Pavé — 100 yen
A subtly sweet bread with a texture similar to Japanese shokupan (milk bread).
It’s also great for making sandwiches at home! ^^

And here’s the same Pavé bread
turned into a delicious sandwich:
Spanish Omelette Sandwich — 320 yen + tax

They also had piping-hot,
freshly baked seasonal pizza on offer.

Butter Chicken Curry Bread!?
Not just a regular curry bread —
BUTTER CHICKEN curry bread!?
I just noticed it… that has to be amazing…
I’m definitely going back for one!

Also fresh from the oven —
edamame bread and an autumn focaccia! ♪

And here’s the bonus!!
A budget-friendly 20% OFF zone!
A wonderful little corner for thrifty travelers (*´Д`)

DACCO Shokupan (signature milk bread) — Half loaf 280 yen / Full loaf 560 yenThey also have drinks available!

Coffee is also for sale here.

And there’s eat-in seating inside too —
perfect for a casual lunch with friends or kids while exploring the Aso countryside. ^^

Recommended Menu

This time I picked up:
Edamame & Cheese Bread — 230 yen
Chocolate Bread — 140 yen
Sausage Bread — 200 yen

First up —
the Edamame & Cheese Bread!

Fresh out of the oven and still warm…
Pure happiness.

Honestly, it’s at-an-emotional-level good —
seriously incredibly delicious!!

The bite of the edamame paired with
the rich, salty notes of the cheese is a match made in heaven.
It was so good it disappeared before I even realized!

Next up — the Sausage Bread!

Wrapped in brown rice bread —
an instant must-buy for me.
That irresistible snap of the sausage with every bite!
Cheese and sausage really are an unbeatable combo.

Then I dove into the Chocolate Bread.

Generous chunks of chocolate inside —
a true celebration for any chocoholic.

Crunchy, rich chocolate that intertwines
with every bite of soft bread —
pure, blissful indulgence ~~

The atmosphere is warm, friendly,
and wonderfully welcoming — exactly the kind of cozy bakery you hope to stumble across while traveling!

If you’re exploring Minamiaso, definitely stop by!
