About the Restaurant

Hello, travelers!
This is Maru, writer for Sarukuma 🙂🙃

I recently experienced my very first “gikkuri-goshi” (a sudden, sharp lower-back strain that’s a rite of passage in Japan).
The colder days can really catch you off guard, so please take care of yourselves out there~ 😂

And after a rough patch like that, what better cure than a delicious lunch? (Yes, I’m reaching!)

Today I’m introducing a gem located in Kamitori-machi, Chuo Ward, Kumamoto City
— it’s called “Campagne”!

Casual French cuisine in the heart of the city!

It’s a popular, intimate spot, so reservations are highly recommended.
Lunch is capped at 90 minutes — but trust me, you’ll savor every moment 😋

Coming from the Kamitori Arcade side, look for the orange sign — the restaurant is on the 5th floor of the Inoue Building.

From the Oaks Street side, this sign welcomes you in.

Step out of the elevator and you’ll find the restaurant on your right.
The lovely door and warm lamp instantly set the mood — I get excited so easily 😄

Inside, it’s a cozy space with about four tables.

While we waited for our food,
they served us warm tea instead of cold water 😍
Such a thoughtful touch ♪

We ordered
the A Lunch — Meat option (¥1,400) and Fish option (¥1,600) ✨

First up: pumpkin potage ✨
A classic favorite — the gentle sweetness of the pumpkin warms you to the core 😋

You can choose between bread or rice — I picked the bread ♪
The high-quality bread paired beautifully with the butter (=^^=)

How elegant! 🎶
The beautiful plating made my heart skip a beat ❤

I went with the meat main:
sautéed pork ♪ The colorful vegetables and sauce made it absolutely irresistible 😍

The pork was tender, and the marinated vegetables had wonderfully bold, natural flavors. So delicious!

And here’s my friend’s fish main:
sautéed scallops with white fish mousse 😊

The chef told us twice what kind of fish was in the mousse, but somehow I still couldn’t remember…
Apologies to the chef 🙏😅 But she absolutely loved it!

And now — the dessert finale ❤
I chose the crème brûlée!

It came topped with coffee gelato and pear — what a lovely surprise! (^ ^)
Every single bite of the crème brûlée was incredible.

And here’s the seasonal apple tart 🍎
All desserts are made in-house!
My friend kept saying how delicious it was ♪

I can totally see why some people come just for the desserts 😋

For the post-dessert drink, I chose coffee!
The glass coffee cup it came in was so beautiful
I was completely mesmerized 💛
