Every time we passed by this cafe, my son would sing this little tune.
So we finally stopped in at…
Kona’s Coffee Kumamoto, located in Kengun-honmachi, Higashi Ward, Kumamoto City!

Suddenly appearing in Kengun… HAWAII!!!

Yep, the exterior alone is already Instagram gold!

It honestly feels like Honolulu — but this is Kengun, Kumamoto!

There’s a parking lot,

and bicycle parking too.

They’re currently operating with shortened hours. (※Please confirm before visiting!)

Inside, every corner is pure Hawaii!
Hawaiian quilts and surfboards on display make you forget you’re even in Kengun anymore!

Even the coffee beans look stylish (^^)

Counter seating,

table seating,

and sofa seating are all available.

They have children’s chairs and a diaper-changing station ^_^
Kids are very welcome!

This time, my son’s long-awaited choice was…
Strawberry & Banana Whip Pancake — ¥1,628 and
French Fries — ¥495!

The pancakes of our dreams!

Look at that! Look at that mountain of whipped cream! It exceeded all expectations!
Mind blown!
We poured on plenty of syrup and dug right in!
The pancakes are unbelievably fluffy (≧∀≦)
Like biting into clouds!

The pancakes I make at home now feel like rocks in comparison lol

My son was over the moon, sporting the happiest smile ever!
The french fries are super crispy!
Sweet × salty — an endlessly addictive combo.

I really wanted to try the burger too, but…
Truth is… I’m a ‘big girl with a small appetite’…

My stomach just couldn’t make it that far. So frustrating (ToT)
Next time I’m definitely going for the burgers and rice dishes!
