Welcome to Nishimoto Coffee

Hello, fellow travelers!

This is Binako, a writer for Sarukuma,
bringing you another delicious discovery from Kumamoto.

Today, I’m excited to introduce
Nishimoto Coffee,
a delightful little café tucked away in Shin-oe, Chuo Ward, Kumamoto City.

The cheerful yellow exterior practically whispers
“something delicious is waiting inside…”

Convenient parking is available right next to and in front of the café — perfect if you’re driving around exploring Kumamoto.

At the entrance, a charming chalkboard displays
the day’s recommended dishes and desserts — a lovely Japanese café tradition.

Takeout options include the Ginger Pork Set Meal (750 yen), Ham, Egg & Cheese Hot Sandwich (600 yen),
Spicy Beef Curry (700 yen), and Hayashi Rice with Demi-Glace Sauce (700 yen) — perfect for grabbing a tasty lunch on the go!

Step inside and you’re greeted by a wonderfully retro atmosphere where time seems to slow down — exactly the kind of authentic Japanese kissaten (old-school coffee shop) experience travelers dream about.

Honestly, this is my kind of place.

Beside the counter seating, you’ll find homemade scones (120 yen) for sale, with the seasonal dessert lineup written nearby.

And just to the right of the scones, prepare to be amazed —
seriously, it’s something else.
A jaw-dropping LEGO display that lights up the corner of the café.

If you’re traveling with kids, this is the kind of detail that turns a coffee stop into an adventure.

The cream soda, in particular, looks like pure nostalgia in a glass…

This time, I went with the
Seasonal Parfait Set!

One word: stunning.
Gorgeous from every angle — top, side, and absolutely Instagram-worthy.

*Crack* goes the spoon!
There’s something so satisfying about breaking through the crisp top of a brûlée.

The perfectly caramelized brûlée crust meets a silky-smooth custard underneath — a harmony of textures that fills your mouth with pure joy.

The parfait features dekopon (a sweet and tangy Japanese citrus), giving it a refreshing zing that pairs beautifully with the rich, indulgent chocolate — a flavor combo that’s pure magic.

Don’t forget the crunchy brown rice flakes hidden inside!
No matter where your spoon lands, you’ll discover a new texture or flavor.

Even the coffee cups are adorable.
The smooth, clean coffee perfectly balances the sweetness of dessert — a pairing you could happily enjoy on repeat all afternoon.

Next time, I’d love to come back for lunch.
And of course, that cream soda is still calling my name…

If you’re visiting Kumamoto, make sure to put Nishimoto Coffee on your list — it’s a hidden gem worth the trip!
