Introducing Tori Zanmai

This is Binako, your SaruKuma writer, reporting in despite a rough start to the morning thanks to my car troubles!

Today I’m featuring a delicious spot located in Onoue, Higashi-ku, Kumamoto City:
“Tori Zanmai” — meaning “All You Can Chicken!”

This newly opened karaage specialty shop launched on March 6, and there was no way I was going to miss it!
With my karaage cravings cranked all the way up, I headed straight there (*´Д｀)

Yes — Tori Zanmai!
The name literally translates to “chicken galore,” and honestly, who wouldn’t want to indulge in chicken galore?
Karaage is just that good.

Parking is available right in front of the shop.

The interior is cozy and was already packed with customers.
It was raining the day I visited, but the staff kindly came out with umbrellas and were warm and friendly to my child, which made the wait time fly by.

Drinks are also available, so you can grab one alongside your karaage or bento.

You get it freshly fried, every single time.
That’s the real charm of this place — and I couldn’t wait another minute to dig in.

Tori Zanmai Recommended Menu

Here’s the menu.
Every item is marked as a NO.1 favorite, so you really can’t go wrong.
Beyond the classic karaage bento, they also offer tatsuta-age and yurinchi (Chinese-style chicken with sweet vinegar sauce).
The Small Bento (250 yen) is a great option too, especially if you want to try a bit of everything.

For my visit, I ordered:
・Yurinchi Bento
・Karaage à la carte (Salt & Soy Sauce)
・Salad

Generous portions of rice and chicken — absolutely loaded!

Drizzle the yurinchi sauce over the chicken and…
The crispy coating combined with that tender, melty skin is simply divine.
The sauce clings beautifully, and the green onion adds the perfect kick.
Easy to eat and wonderfully delicious — no wonder it’s the No. 1 pick among female customers!

And here’s the soy sauce karaage.
That beautifully golden-brown color is just stunning.

A crisp coating with juicy, tender meat — never dry.
The juices burst out with every bite — you’ll want to drink them up!
My little one was happily grabbing them with both hands.

And this is the salt-flavored karaage.
They label it with a sticky note marked “Salt” so you can easily tell them apart.

The light, savory salt seasoning only fuels your appetite.
And the juiciness of the chicken is on another level.
The more you eat, the hungrier you somehow feel.
This is what I call endless karaage!

Tori Zanmai is seriously, ridiculously good.
A flavor that’ll win over anyone — guys and gals alike.
