Welcome to Heike no Sato
Hello, travelers!
This is Maru, your SaruKuma writer ππ
Today I’m taking you to Koto, Higashi-ku, Kumamoto City, to a beloved local spot called
“Heike no Sato.”
This place is famous for its hamburg steak (hambΔgu) β and let’s be honest, who doesn’t love a juicy hamburg?! οΌΌ(^o^)οΌ

The restaurant sits along the East Bypass (Higashi Bypass), with its own parking lot right out front β easy to find if you’re driving ππ

Inside, you’ll find both Western-style table seating and traditional Japanese tatami (zashiki) seating β a great chance to experience eating Japanese-style if you’ve never tried it.

Traveling with kids? The tatami room is perfect, and high chairs are available for table seating too β so families are well taken care of π¦π§

Just looking at the menu photos is enough to make your mouth water π

Here’s the lunch menu!
It’s not just hamburg steak β locals also rave about the steak dishes here.

They even serve Taiwanese-style shaved ice (kakigΕri) β and yes, it’s available year-round!

Now, the sizzling iron plate arrives! Get ready β you might want to shield yourself from the splattering juices (^^)

And now… the hamburg show begins! πππ
With elegant, practiced movements, the staff slices the round patty in two right at your table…

…then presses the cut sides onto the screaming-hot iron plate with a satisfying sizzle.
It feels like a little dinner-table performance β so much fun! π
Choose your favorite sauce, and it’s ready to enjoy!

Ta-da β here’s the lunch hamburg set, served with rice and miso soup.

This is a 100% Japanese Black Wagyu (kuroge wagyu) hamburg β with absolutely no fillers or binders!
Pure, meaty, beefy bliss… a hamburg that lets you savor the deep umami of premium wagyu beef π
You can really taste the quality of the ingredients. Absolutely irresistible.

And here’s the lunch egg hamburg β topped with an adorable star-shaped fried egg! β¨
For dessert, I tried the Taiwanese-style shaved ice (mango sauce).
A refreshing finish after all that rich beef β major lunch satisfaction unlocked π
Watching your hamburg sizzle right in front of you is a treat for kids and adults alike!
If you’re visiting Kumamoto, definitely add this place to your list π
