Introducing fleur
Hello there!
Craving zenzai… craving anko… always hungry for sweet red beans,
this is Binako, your Sarukuma writer!
Today I’m introducing a special little spot located in
Tai-no-shima, Minami-ku, Kumamoto City:
“fleur”.

Tucked into a quiet residential neighborhood, fleur sells its sweets right from the entrance of a private home β and only on Tuesdays.
Luckily, my Tuesday was wide open, so I’d been telling myself “I’m going!” since the night before.

At the entrance, baskets of naturally grown vegetables greeted me.
From unfamiliar varieties to comforting old favorites…
seeing those soil-dusted vegetables, I couldn’t help but grin to myself.

I arrived just 10 minutes after opening, but several items had already sold out!
Every sweet at fleur is gluten-free.
On top of that, all the treats are entirely plant-based, making them gentle on the body.
And the warmth of the staff is just as wonderful…
No wonder this place is so popular.

I was treated to a complimentary hot lime-ade β its gentle bitterness gave way to a soft sweetness that warmed me from the inside out.

Reading about the care put into every ingredient, you can feel nothing but love. It’s a truly happy little space.
Recommended Menu at fleur

This time, I picked up the Value Set (1,000 yen).
Inside, you’ll find:
γ»Energy Cookies Γ 3
γ»Brown Sugar Peanuts
γ»Brown Rice & Okara Carrot Cake

First up, the “Brown Rice & Okara Carrot Cake.”
Made from brown rice and okara (soy pulp), this cake is packed with nutrition β exactly the kind of treat you’d happily hand to your kids as an afternoon snack.

Moist… chewy…
substantial enough to feel satisfying, yet light on the palate.
Even kids who hate carrots will gobble it up β it’s that good.

Next, the Energy Cookies.
A satisfying, hearty crunch with chunks of nuts that add an even bigger bite.
The sweetness is restrained, so even those who aren’t fans of sugary treats will enjoy them.
Best of all, they really make you chew β perfect for kids, too.

And here are the Brown Sugar Peanuts.
Generously coated in rich Japanese brown sugar (kokuto), they’re the perfect snack for a quick break.
Slip a few in your pocket and nibble away as you go (just try not to spill them!).

Every snack here is kind to your body, and I felt true happiness with every bite.
A treat that both children and adults can enjoy with peace of mind β isn’t that just wonderful?
Be sure to clear your Tuesday schedule and head over for a visit!
