About the Shop
Hello there!
This is Binako,
your Sarukuma writer who recently spotted Gachapin on TV for the first time in ages!
Today I’m excited to introduce a lovely little bakery located in
Suya, Koshi City, Kumamoto Prefecture:
“bakeshop hayashi”.

Famous for its cookies, the shop has a clean, minimalist white exterior that’s easy to spot. ^^

The parking lot is right next to the shop and spacious enough to easily accommodate larger vehicles β perfect if you’re driving a rental car or family-sized SUV!

Inside, you’ll also find a curated selection of lifestyle goods, including baby carriers you can actually try on before purchasing. It’s such a thoughtful touch β being able to test items takes all the guesswork out of shopping!

Just in front of the register, an irresistible array of cookies awaits, including oatmeal cookies, salted cookies, and even tomato and basil cookies β there’s truly something to delight both adults and kids alike! βͺ
The popular cube cookies come in a wonderful variety of flavors as well!
You’ll find cocoa, plain, kinako (roasted soybean flour), and kokuto (Japanese brown sugar) β every single flavor is guaranteed to be delicious! (*Β΄Πο½)
Recommended Menu

Scone Sandwich
Plain β 260 yen
Raisin β 290 yen
Cookie & Ice Cream β 400 yen
Drip Coffee β 400 yen
Fruit Squash β 400 yen / Mini 300 yen
Homemade Syrup Drink β 400 yen / Soy Latte β 500 yen
The drink and sweets selection is wonderfully varied! βͺ
This time, I treated myself to the
Cookie & Ice Cream β 400 yen!
It comes with both an oatmeal cookie and a salted cookie sandwiched around the ice cream β a wonderful deal for someone like me who loves trying multiple flavors at once! βͺ

The crunchy oatmeal cookie is absolutely amazing
and pairs beautifully with the cool, creamy ice cream.
The contrast between the slightly melted ice cream and the crisp, textured cookie creates such a satisfying, indulgent dessert! (*Β΄Πο½)

The salted cookie has just the right amount of saltiness, creating that wonderful sweet-and-salty harmony with the ice cream that spreads through your mouth in pure bliss.

I also tried the kokuto (Japanese brown sugar) cube cookie!
It crumbles so beautifully in your mouth that you’ll want to keep eating it forever! (*Β΄Πο½)
This is a cookie that grown-ups will absolutely adore.
The sweetness is gentle and never overwhelming, making it incredibly easy to enjoy!
With such a wonderful variety of cookies on offer,
be sure to stop by and try them for yourself when visiting Kumamoto!
