Today I’m excited to introduce you to a hidden local gem in Sushiyoshi, Shisui-machi, Kikuchi City, Kumamoto Prefecture:
“Moruten” Bento Shop.

The shop has a chic, stylish exterior that makes it instantly inviting and easy to walk into.

There’s even a bench out front,
perfect for enjoying your bento right on the spot!

Inside, you’ll find a counter where you can comfortably wait for your bento to be freshly prepared.

You can even pre-order party platters (hors d’oeuvres) — perfect if you’re hosting a gathering!

This time, I tried the
Daily Special Bento — 400 yen!

This is way more food than you’d expect for 400 yen!
Plus, the rice is topped with yukari (a savory shiso seasoning).
A lovely touch — it keeps every bite of rice flavorful from start to finish!

You can choose to have hot water added to the soup on the spot, or take it home to prepare yourself — a thoughtful little detail!

The hamburger steak is absolutely incredible.
You can really taste the rich, meaty flavor, and the pepper seasoning is balanced just right — making it the ultimate companion to a bowl of hot rice.

The hamburger steak is generously sized too, which left me totally satisfied.

The potatoes are wonderfully tender,
and dipping them in the hamburger sauce instantly transforms them into yet another delicious side dish.

And the rice — oh, the rice is so good.
The yukari rice is fantastic, but honestly the rice itself is so delicious that I found myself happily eating it all on its own!

The staff are friendly, welcoming, and quick to share a smile.
And I have to mention — they’re absolutely lovely!
With bento this delicious and service this warm, you simply have to visit!
