Welcome to Moritiku

Hello, fellow travelers!
I’m Saa-mama, a writer for Sarukuma.

Today, I’m excited to introduce you to a hidden gem:

Located in Kosa Town, Kamimashiki District, Kumamoto Prefecture,
“Moritiku” is the place to be!

This shop is one of the most legendary and beloved shaved ice destinations in all of Kumamoto! ♬

The parking lot is spacious, but it often fills up quickly.
When that happens, there’s a second parking lot just nearby that you can use.

The second parking lot is just 20 meters past the shop on the left side!

There are chairs and tables next to the parking lot, so you can also enjoy your shaved ice here!

The reception desk is located right in front of the shop.

Please note: hand and finger sanitization, plus mask-wearing, are required when entering the shop!

The menu is placed inside the reception tent. Fill it out, then groups go inside one at a time to order and pay.

Moritiku’s Recommended Menu

Here’s the menu.
Takeout is also available!

Photos of each shaved ice creation are displayed at the reception tent,
making it super easy to picture what you’re ordering and choose a favorite! 🎶

The signature menu features Premium Yogurt Shave,
Milk Shave, Matcha Shave, Strawberry Shave,
Mango Shave, and Pudding Shave
.

Shave ice here is unique — the ice itself is flavored, made by freezing fruit pulp, juice, milk, and other ingredients directly into the ice!

You can also pile on extra toppings to customize your bowl.
“Choose Your Toppings” include
condensed milk, brown sugar syrup, kinako (roasted soybean flour), coffee powder, matcha powder, and cocoa (60 yen each).

Sauces available: chocolate, caramel (cream), caramel (burnt), coffee, matcha, black sesame, sweet red bean paste, 5 shiratama mochi balls, water warabi mochi, and whipped cream (100 yen each).

Fruit sauces include mango, strawberry, blueberry, coffee jelly, and mascarpone (180 yen each).

With such a wide variety of toppings to choose from, you can really make your shaved ice your own! ♪

The interior is decorated with lots of colorful koinobori (carp streamers).

This time, I tried the No.1 most popular item: Milk Shave with Kinako (with shiratama mochi + kinako + brown sugar syrup) for 680 yen.
The shiratama mochi balls are wonderfully chewy, and the fluffy milk-flavored ice is irresistible!
Kinako and brown sugar syrup are a match made in heaven — a classic combination that never disappoints! ♬

Strawberry Shave (with strawberry fruit sauce) — 680 yen
The ice itself bursts with real strawberry flavor.
Fluffy, light, and just the right portion size — even my little one polished off the whole bowl by themselves! ♫

After you finish, you’ll find trash bins, trays, anti-slip mats, and a cup return area near the entrance.

There’s also a terrace seating area.

Outside, you’ll also find trash bins, trays, anti-slip mats, and a cup return area!

To sum it up, Moritiku offers

a wonderfully diverse menu,
tons of topping options,
and a chance to design your very own custom shaved ice creation! ♬
