Welcome to Mori no Pan-ya

Hello, fellow travelers!
This is Maru, your Sarukuma writer ๐Ÿ™‚๐Ÿ™ƒ

Today I’m taking you to Misato Town in Kamimashiki District, Kumamoto Prefecture,
to visit a delightful little bakery called “Mori no Pan-ya” (Forest Bakery).

The adorable log-cabin-style building looks like something straight out of a storybook ๐Ÿ’•

I expected a regular bakery, but this place is so much more!
Beyond fresh-baked bread, you’ll also find roll cakes, custard puddings ๐Ÿฎ,
and even wine ๐Ÿท for sale ( โŽแต•แด—แต•โŽ )โค๏ธŽ

You’ll find the bakery along Prefectural Route 128. Convenient parking is available right next to the shop.

Here are the opening hours.

There’s outdoor seating right by the entrance.
On a sunny day, it’s the perfect spot to enjoy your fresh bread!

Step inside and you’re welcomed by a soaring triangular roof โ€” the name “Forest Bakery” suits this airy, woodsy atmosphere perfectly ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿƒ
And oh my, the bread selection is enormous ( โŽแต•แด—แต•โŽ )๐Ÿ’›

But here’s where I made a huge mistake ๐Ÿ˜ข

I completely missed the most famous bun in the shop! ๐Ÿ˜ญ Please, let me cry about it (haha)
The arrow points to that legendary bread:

The “Baby Bottom Bun” ๐Ÿ‘ถ
A fluffy white bun shaped to resemble a baby’s adorable bottom, generously stuffed with creamy custard.
How on earth did I miss it?! Don’t make my mistake โ€” keep an eye out for this signature treat (^^;;

Don’t worry though โ€” there are tons of other delicious options to choose from ๐Ÿ˜
And the prices? Wonderfully affordable!

They also offer roll cakes and pudding โค
I bet the Misato Pudding is amazing โ€” another regret of mine for not trying it! ๐Ÿ˜†

And here’s a fun surprise โ€” one corner of the shop is dedicated to wine and other alcoholic drinks ๐Ÿท

The wine prices are very reasonable too. Why not pair a bottle with your fresh-baked bread?

There’s also a great variety of soft drinks to choose from.

And here’s the cozy eat-in space โ™ช
It’s small but stylish, with a charming triangular window that lets natural light flood in (^ ^)

You can also order coffee or soft-serve ice cream here.

Here’s what I picked up on this visit!
I enjoyed everything in the cozy eat-in area ๐Ÿ˜‹
Christmas decorations scattered around the shop made it all the more heartwarming ๐ŸŽ„

The label “Original Homemade Curry” caught my eye right awayโ€ฆ
Homemade Curry Bun โ€” 205 yen

It’s filled with domestic Japanese beef โ€” what a treat!
The spice level was perfectly balanced, and honestly, this was one of the most delicious curry buns I’ve ever had ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ’•

Sorry the photo isn’t the best ๐Ÿ’ฆ
Drawn in by the seasonal persimmonโ€ฆ
Taishu Persimmon Pastry โ€” 240 yen

It’s packed with rich custard cream inside.
And the persimmon? Incredibly sweet and bursting with flavor โ€” I was honestly blown away ( โŽแต•แด—แต•โŽ )โค๏ธŽ

I left feeling absolutely delighted. Thank you for the meal!
Make sure you don’t miss the famous Baby Bottom Bun on your visit~ ๐Ÿ‘ถ
