Today, we’re heading deep into the lush highlands of Aso to introduce
a hidden gem in Miyahara, Oguni Town, Aso District, Kumamoto Prefecture:
“OGUNIYA JERSEY” — a soft-serve ice cream shop that’s all about ultra-fresh Jersey milk.

The first thing that catches your eye out front is a big sign reading
“Nama Soft” (Fresh Soft-Serve).

Soft-serve made with 100% freshly squeezed milk? I’d never heard of such a thing before — and my curiosity was instantly piqued!

For the soft-serve, you can choose between a regular cone, waffle cone, or cup ( *´艸｀)

All options are 350 yen!

This time, I went for the Fresh Soft-Serve Ice Cream — 350 yen!

After grabbing my cone, I made a beeline for the photo spot outside…

…and struck a pose like this!

Trust me — it makes the ice cream taste even better.

Mmm. Absolutely delicious.

The soft-serve has a firmer, almost crisp texture — completely unlike anything I’d tried before.

It melts in your mouth with a gentle, fluffy sweetness that practically begs you to say it out loud: “So light and creamy!”

Despite being light on the palate, the natural sweetness of the Jersey milk really shines through. It’s incredibly easy to eat — never heavy or overly rich!

When you’re done, there’s a convenient return counter at the shop for your used cups and trash.
Such a thoughtful touch!

I expected it to be heavy and rich, but it was actually surprisingly light and easy to enjoy — totally different from the typical soft-serve you’d usually find!

Highly recommended if you’re craving something sweet but light and refreshing!
