Today I’m introducing you to Hinatamakokko, located in Jonan-machi, Minami Ward, Kumamoto City,

Hinatamakokko is a direct-from-the-farm shop run by Sun Farm, an egg producer that sells egg-based meals, sweets, and products!
A cute egg character sign welcomes you in!
The parking lot is roomy and easy to use.
Tucked among the trees, the shop looks like a storybook cottage!

Here are the opening hours!
A temperature check is performed before entering the shop.

Inside, you’ll find safe, secure, and fresh eggs on display,
along with cakes and puddings made with these eggs,
and the wonderfully named “Oppai Cheese Furufuru” jiggly cheese dessert (great name!) — a wide variety of sweets to choose from.

Recommended Menu Items

This time, I came for lunch!
The menu is packed with ‘egg dishes’ made from their signature eggs.
My target this day was the limited-availability (until sold out)
“Tamago Kake Gohan Set” (raw egg over rice set, 490 yen)!
Made it just in time before they sold out!

The rice mountain is so high it looks like something out of an old Japanese folktale! Ha!
And there’s a bonus second egg so you can add another — what generosity!
Pickles and egg soup are included too.
You drizzle their special soy sauce over it. For dessert, I had the egg soft serve ice cream (350 yen)!

It even has a slight egg-yellow tint!
Gentle egg flavor that even kids will gobble down happily.
The eat-in space has proper social distancing
and even partition curtains! Perfect!
There are also kid-friendly utensils
(having children’s chopsticks is honestly so appreciated!),
plus toys and picture books!
(There used to be a kids’ corner; now it’s just toys placed out.)
And there’s even complimentary coffee!
What a wonderful touch!
Of course I gratefully accepted~ ♪

And another big highlight is…
there’s a playground outside!
A two-story wooden “secret base” play structure…
A big swing!
And… is this a mini jungle gym?!
And meet Mocha, the Tokara goat!
There’s even a park golf course right next door!

My son absolutely loved the playground and kept playing here long after our meal!
The “Time to head home!” “Just a bit more!” exchange happened more times than I can count… haha

So while you shop at Hinatamakokko, the kids can keep themselves entertained!
