๐Ÿ“Œ What you’ll learn in this article
A Sarukuma writer visits “Ocha to Gourmet no Mori Sanrokuen” (Tea & Gourmet Forest Sanrokuen) in Tokoroshima, Egazu-machi, Higashi-ku, and shares the full report. Price guide: from 598 yen. Includes family-friendly tips, access, and opening hours.

Hello, fellow travelers!
I’m Binako, a writer for Sarukuma,
and I never say no to a tasty bite โ€” even when I’m already full!

Today I’m taking you to
Tokoroshima, Egazu-machi, Higashi-ku, Kumamoto Prefecture,
to visit a wonderful local shop called
“Ocha to Gourmet no Mori Sanrokuen” (Tea & Gourmet Forest Sanrokuen).

The shop was buzzing today thanks to a special end-of-season sale!
Thanks for welcoming me even on such a busy day!

You’ll find Sanrokuen right next to Handsman Egazu, a popular local home-improvement store โ€” easy to spot and easy to combine with a shopping run.

They also sell freshly made bento (Japanese boxed lunches) here โ€”
and the prices are surprisingly affordable!
A perfect grab-and-go option for lunch on a sightseeing day. โ™ช

Inside the shop, I spotted a tempting
Mixed Nut Fruit Cake for 598 yen,
but it was already sold out!

It seems to be a popular item that isn’t always in stock,
so if it’s on your wishlist, it’s worth checking ahead before you go.

There’s also a fun pick-and-mix candy section sold by weight!

And get this โ€” only 5 yen per gram!
Kids absolutely love this kind of thing, so it’s perfect for family travelers. โ™ช

I also found edamame salt rice crackers
and sakura shrimp salt rice crackers โ€” uniquely Japanese flavors!

Wow, these look amazing โ€” perfect souvenirs to take home!

You can even grab a cup of coffee for just 120 yen โ€” a steal!
And take a closer look at the snacks belowโ€ฆ

Bamboo charcoal peanuts โ€”
an unusual treat I just couldn’t stop thinking about.

Most of the bento boxes were already sold out!
But chilled summer ramen (hiyashi chuka) was available โ€” perfect for hot Kumamoto days!

And to my surprise, the shop even sells clothes!

And here it is โ€” the star of the show, the Green Tea Soft Serve Ice Cream!
There are even two types of cones to choose from,
so don’t be shy โ€” ask the friendly staff for their recommendation.

The staff were warm and welcoming, and I was free to browse the shop at my own pace. โ™ช

Recommended Menu

This time, I tried the
New Tea (Shincha) Soft Serve for 300 yen!

If you look closely, you can actually see
tiny tea leaf bits in the soft serve. Beautiful detail!

Creamy, milky, and absolutely delicious!
You’ll taste the rich milk first, but the real magic comes after โ€”
a refreshing green tea aroma rising through your nose that’s simply blissful.

A subtle hint of tea bitterness rounds it out beautifully โ€” seriously addictive.
I think I’m officially hooked on green tea soft serve!

From green tea ice cream to bento boxes, snacks, and souvenirs,
there’s something for everyone here โ€” definitely add it to your Kumamoto travel list!
