📌 What You’ll Discover in This Article
A firsthand visit by our Sarukuma writer to Ippondo JR Tamana Store, a specialty Japanese milk bread (shokupan) bakery located in Naka, Tamana City. Prices start from just 290 yen. We’ve also included family-friendly tips, access info, and opening hours.

Hello, fellow travelers! 😊
This is Yuzu, your Sarukuma writer ðŸŒŧ

Today, I’m excited to introduce you to a hidden gem located in Naka, Tamana City, Kumamoto Prefecture:
Ippondo JR Tamana Station Store ☆

The bakery is conveniently located right at JR Tamana Station.

At first, I thought it might be across from the station,
but it’s actually on the right side of this photo 😊

While not inside the station itself, it’s part of the same building.
For parking, you can use the station’s parking lot!

The first 20 minutes are free 🚗

As the name suggests, this shop is dedicated entirely to freshly baked shokupan
— Japanese milk bread!

THE Shokupan Specialist

Doesn’t it just have that vibe?
The shop opened in April 2020 😊

Just look at this incredible
lineup of breads! 😍

Ippondo takes pride in their craftsmanship —
made without honey, yeast, or eggs,
using carefully selected, safe, and high-quality ingredients ☚ïļ

And of course, every loaf is baked fresh in-store ☆

There are even more varieties than what’s shown here 💕

And here’s
Today’s Menu ☆

You can check the daily fresh-baked lineup on their Instagram before you visit 👍

For raisin lovers,
this bread is pure heaven 🍞

Two different kinds of raisin bread? Yes please! âĪïļ
Now, let’s step inside the shop! GO! GO!!!!

Once inside, you’ll find a refrigerator stocked with drinks, cheese, and eggs
for sale 👍

And look at this — low-carb products!!!!!!

As an anko (sweet red bean paste) lover, I deeply regret not buying their anko on this visit ðŸ˜ą
I’m definitely going back for it soon!!!

A wonderful selection of jams too! 💕
Each one looks like the perfect bread companion 🍞

While some items aren’t eligible,
they offer free slicing service!!

Choose anywhere from 3 to 12 slices 👍

Slicing at home often results in squashed or uneven pieces, so this service is incredibly helpful 👌

Here’s how the shokupan loaves are proudly displayed
on the shelves 🍞

Recommended Menu Item

This time, I picked up the

Ippondo Plain — 290 yen
(their original signature loaf).

I couldn’t wait — I ate a slice right in the car ðŸĪĢ
Let me cut to the chase:
Absolutely DELICIOUS!!!!

Since it was my first visit, I went with the most affordable plain loaf, but the quality was off the charts!!
First of all, the crust was fluffy and soft!

And the inside? Pillowy soft with just the right hint of natural sweetness — incredible!!

Even my family member, who normally avoids bread crusts, raved about it!!!
It vanished in seconds 😆

I have no doubt the other varieties are equally amazing!!!

Next time, I’m going to grab the low-carb shokupan for sure!!
If you’re traveling through Tamana, I highly recommend stopping by — you won’t regret it 😄
