Hello there!
This is Binako, writer for Sarukuma!

Feeling energetic and ready to go as always!

Today, I’m introducing a hidden gem in Naganeminami, Higashi-ku, Kumamoto City:
“Ton Ton Torori”. Ton Ton… Torori?! (“Torori” means melt-in-your-mouth in Japanese!)
With a name like that, there’s no way I could resist โ€” I had to try it!

Look for the cute black pig sign along the road โ€” that’s how you’ll spot it!

There are 2 parking spaces in front of the shop, and the staff told me you can also park sideways next to the closed shutter of the neighboring shop.

Inside the shop, there’s even a drink corner โ€” perfect for grabbing a refreshment!

In addition to tonsoku (pig trotters), they also sell skewers โ€” making this the ultimate spot for your at-home Japanese-style drinking session!

The prices are super reasonable, and everything looks delicious!

And here’s the star of the show โ€” the famous tonsoku (pig trotters)!
Just 320 yen per skewer โ€” what a steal!

It seems they’re incredibly popular,
so the staff recommended placing a reservation in advance for a smoother pickup.

On weekends, the wait can stretch to two hours!
They kindly suggested ordering the day before to avoid a long wait.

Of course, I showed up without a reservation…
But despite how busy they were, I only had to wait 15 minutes! Such a relief!

A huge thank you to the wonderful staff!

While waiting, you can stay in your car, and they’ll bring the order right to you. Such thoughtful service!

By the way, there’s also a bench inside the shop, so you can wait there too!

Here are the operating hours.
Open 16:00โ€“23:00, with Sundays closing at 22:00!

Recommended Menu

Time to dig in!
Since the trotters were on the smaller side, they generously included two per skewer.
What a kind gesture โ€” I gratefully enjoyed both!

The outside is perfectly crispy, and the inside is unbelievably soft and gooey!

Truly “torori” โ€” melt-in-your-mouth tender!

You don’t even need teeth! That’s how soft it is!
I was so absorbed in eating that I completely forgot to take photos โ€”
I only remembered after taking a bite of my second skewer!

That’s why I had to hide the bitten part in the photo with the sauce… haha
It’s the kind of dish you can keep eating endlessly โ€” a must-try for any pork lover!

Even my kid was happily munching away with cheeks full of pork!

Next time, I’m definitely making a reservation!
Melt-in-your-mouth tonsoku โ€” every bit as “torori” as the name promises, and absolutely delicious!
