Introducing LeaLea kitchen
Hi everyone, this is Binako, your Sarukuma writer.
Today I’m excited to introduce a charming spot that operates out of a
colorful food truck:
“LeaLea kitchen”.
The name “LeaLea” comes from Hawaiian, meaning “take it easy” or “go with the flow” β and just hearing the name puts you in a relaxed, vacation-like mood.
Just look at that adorable sky-blue food truck β it’s impossible to miss!
LeaLea kitchen primarily operates around the Arao area in northern Kumamoto Prefecture.
I had been wanting to visit ever since they opened, so I couldn’t help blurting out, “I finally made it!” with way too much excitement when I arrived.

They also sell handmade goods designed especially for kids β a sweet little extra touch.

Their specialty? Gluten-free churros made with rice flour produced right here in Kumamoto Prefecture.
Since they’re 100% gluten-free, even visitors with wheat allergies can enjoy these delicious sweets β which is honestly such a wonderful thing for travelers with dietary restrictions.
And on top of that, the churros come in a colorful variety of flavors that are seriously eye-catching.

This time, I ordered the “Strawberry Γ Pebbles” (450 yen) and “Almond Γ Chocolate” (430 yen).

The moment my child laid eyes on the colorful churros, it was an instant “That one!!”
But once they actually had it in hand, the reaction shifted to:
“It’s too cute to eat~~!” β how adorable is that?
Of course, after all that hesitation, the very first bite brought a triumphant
“This is SO good!! The best!!”
Safe to say, it was a hit.

I went for the “Almond Γ Chocolate” myself.
The outside is perfectly crisp and crunchy, while
the inside has that signature chewy, mochi-like texture that only rice flour can deliver. Absolutely delicious.
The chocolate isn’t overly sweet, and the crunchy almond bits add the perfect accent.

Snap a photo and it’s pure Instagram gold.
These churros honestly made my heart flutter with joy.
