This authentic Sanuki udon shop is so beloved that customers form lines outside during lunchtime. Let us show you why it’s worth the wait! (^o^)/
There’s a parking lot on the premises, but it filled up quickly on the day of our visit. If the lot is full, it’s a good idea to ask the staff for guidance. (^-^)
The interior of Sanuki Udon Mishima was so packed with happy diners that photos were a challenge, but you’ll find counter seats, table seats, and traditional tatami-style seating to choose from.
The owner trained in Kagawa Prefecture (the birthplace of Sanuki udon) and serves authentic Miyatake-style udon, a famous regional variety!

They sell out quickly, but don’t worry β they’re constantly being replenished throughout the day. (*^^*)

Hiya-Atsu (cold udon, hot broth) β 390 yen
Glistening udon noodles bathed in golden, savory broth. (^o^)/
It’s beautifully simple β and that’s what makes it absolutely delicious!
The noodles are
long, chewy, and incredibly springy!
This generous fried tofu (aburaage) topping is a must-try!
The aburaage is fluffy and lightly sweet β a flavor that even kids absolutely loved.
And when it soaks up the udon broth? Pure magic! (^o^)/
You really can’t go wrong with any of the fried side dishes here.
Pro tip: try placing a croquette right on top of your udon β it’s a game changer!
Hiya-Hiya (cold udon, cold broth) β 390 yen
Because both the noodles and broth are cold, the udon takes on an even firmer, chewier texture. (^-^)
The kids couldn’t stop saying “yummy!” and finished every last bite. (*^^*)
You’ll find yourself slurping silently in pure satisfaction!

Since you pay at the end of your meal, you’re free to grab drinks straight from the refrigerated case β including the iconic Japanese Ramune soda!
Even though it’s been open for quite some time, this udon shop continues to draw consistent crowds β a delicious testament to its quality! You may have to wait briefly on busy days, but trust us, it’s well worth it. Add it to your Kumamoto food itinerary! (^o^)/
